TickledBlue Posted April 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2018 We are new to Celebrity and not familiar with the sales. Is it likely that when one sale ends another begins? That has been our experience with Princess Most definitely. Most sales don't really lower the net cost of the cruise since they raise prices prior to a "sale". Lastdance Posted April 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Yes, the word "sale" doesn't necessarily me a better price...it is more like bait and switch or the infamous gotcha program!
miched Posted April 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Yes, the word "sale" doesn't necessarily me a better price...it is more like bait and switch or the infamous gotcha program! With Celebrity the sale and switch can work both ways. Booked the cruise with the currrent price, perks and promos if it is something you want. If you see a better price, perk or promo later ask the TA for that. You will have to evaluate it as the price may not include any perks or may cost more than what the perks are worth. If you use the refundable price you can switch to a different cruise without losing your deposit but any perks may not carry over as it will also depend on the promo. All of this can be done before final payment. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
TFLG Posted April 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2018 So very much like Princess it seems. Very much like all of them..... That's doesn't mean you can't snag a great deal but it's likely not going to be because of a "sale". Prices go up and down all the time based on the number of cabins sold and the proximity to the sail date. The online travel agents and warehouse stores often throw in additional perks or savings well above what the cruise line offers if you go direct. But the cruise line "sales" are a joke most of the time.
Mr. Click Posted April 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2018 A sale is a funny word in the cruise industry. Everything is about supply and demand. Back in September we booked a Eastern Med cruise for this October while we were on board another Celebrity cruise. It was early, lots of empty cabins. I just priced the same cruise using the current Celebrity sale deal and with the same "perks" the cost is $2700 higher than we agreed to pay last year and the choice of veranda cabins is down to a very few on deck 6. Nothing on 7 or 8 or 9....so sale? Like ships, another one comes along every few minutes, you just have to pick the right one for you.
