4774Papa Posted May 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2018 We have an Arctic Circle cruise on Serenade of the Seas with RCI in June 2019 and considering pre-cruise touring on our own of Stockholm and or Oslo. Any recommendations or suggestion regarding number of days for those cities, hotels (4 star) or tours. Thanks in advance. George

wheezedr Posted May 20, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2018 We spent 4 days in Stockholm and 3 in Norway on our recent ground vacation. That gave us plenty of time to see the things we were interested in. You could still do a lot if your visit was shorter and you were organized. Oslo is actually quite compact and has great transit and lots of things in walking distance. Stockholm is more spread out but again the local metro gets you to most sites. Creative use of some boat trips let’s you shorten travel time as well. If your ship does the Stockholm archipelago that is great, if not consider an evening dinner cruise as a way to utilize your time.
Desdichado62 Posted May 20, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2018 You can easily spend 4-5 days in Stockholm. The public transport system is very extensive in Stockholm. Hotels: Sheraton, Hotel Kung Carl and Elite Stockholm Plaza.
kaisatsu Posted May 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 20, 2018 Oslo is fairly small, so you can easily cover all the highlights in two days. With three, you can take your time and explore some of the lesser-known bits. In nice weather, there are a fair number of nice walking routes, since it’s a very pedestrian-friendly city.
