Midnight buffet.

Ah yes! The incredible midnight buffet. I remember waking my daughter up (she was 8 on our first cruise together) to go to this. I loved how they would let us all line up to go around to take pictures, and ooh and aah, before anyone touched a single thing. They really were awe-inspiring.

Honestly the only thing that I truly miss is the fruit punch they had at the Lido restaurant. In the afternoons, it was the only included beverage that was worth drinking. Also, I remember when I first started cruising, at Lido breakfast there was more juice variety.

How could I forget the fruit punch. This is near the top of my list.

Ditto this!

Also, the steel drum music on the Lido deck, instead of the way-too-loud hip hop (or whatever the stuff is called that's blaring at an ear-splitting decibel).

I agree. Once you hear the steel drum music, you know you are headed to the Caribbean.

I miss the watercolor prints of the ship that we were given at the end of dinner in the MDR on the last night. They were beautiful. I still have all the ones from our first 4 or 5 cruises.

When they gave them out on the last night, we always had our wait staff sign them.

I also miss the white photo albums they use to sell. It had a picture of that particular ship on the cover and there was a place inside for writing the itinerary and a pocket for things like the tri-fold ship layout.

I almost forgot about those! You mean no steel drum music anymore??? My last Carnival cruise was in 2007, but returning in 2019, and I loved that music. 😢

I also have several of the watercolor prints of the ships. Nice, but I could live without them. I’m just still bummed that we no longer get the free cocktail parties and only Platinum and Diamond get them! I even went on a cruise marketed as a “Past Cruiser Cruise” in 2004 from NYC to Nova Scotia on the Victory. At that time, that was my 4th Carnival Cruise, but I had a SUPER rate ($400 for the 2 of us in an ocean view cabin), and they gave us a TON of gifts! Now, they only do those things for Platinum and Diamond. Too sad. 😥

Nonsense! I was just on the Glory last week and they had a steel drummer who rotated between the Lido deck and casino bar all week long.

There was a guy (David) playing steel drums on Lido during embarkation on the Glory in April. Heck, I even requested a song!

Well, that’s good to hear! I’m on the Breeze in March 2019 and the Magic in April 2020 (for my 50th Anniversary).

They may have added the steel drums back. For two or three of our cruises, they did not have any at all. I know there were a lot of complaints registered because they did away with them. It use to be a whole band with two or three steel drums. On our last cruise, it was one guy and he only played once or twice on the Lido deck.

wow, makes me kind of sad because I forgot about some of these. (fruit punch!) Now it makes me wish we had them back! The disappearance of so many little things we no longer get won't cure my cruise addiction but when you add them all up, there sure is alot.

I used to feel like I snagged some really great deals too as far as pricing goes but not so much anymore.

Miss those bathroom clamshells full of goodies. They had a particular brand of womens razors that were deadly sharp. I have a fairy tatoo on my leg with a missing eye to prove it.
