Used uber for 2 people, cost roughly $40. We stayed at the Miami Marriot Biscayne Bay, it's a 2 minute ride to the port, and you can see all the cruise ships lined up in the morning from the hotel!

I did a test run and the price was $40 which is great but I wonder if the price is different on a sat at 11am?

When you access the Uber app it will tell you if there is a boost in price

Rental car. We always fly into FLL and have to get down to MIA. Not only is the car cheaper, but it gives us the ability to go out and about and not be stuck at the hotel. So we can grab dinner or go shopping.

This. Rent from Avis at FLL airport. Then the next morning after you check out, drive to the port of Miami. Unload your bags and leave everything but your carry on with the porters. Then return the car at the cruise ship shuttle location near the port, and they will shuttle you back for free.

Bonus: you'll be able to stop at Publix and load up on carry-on wine.

For how many? UberX - good for 2-3 plus bags will be about $40; UberXL, good for 4-5 plus bags will cost about $75+ Taxi, including minivan & SUV cabs will also be about $75+ Tri-rail train is cheap - under $5 each - but not sure it will be running late at night.

Why not stay near FLL and then head straight to POM the morning of your cruise? From MIA airport hotels you are still a 15-30 minute drive from the port -- about $30+ in a taxi. http://www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area hotel and tourist info. ;)

the hotel we say at Hampton inn and suites has a free shuttle to the ship.

So the cost/time to get to a hotel near MIA that offers a "free" shuttle to POM, compared to staying closer to FLL (where comparable hotels are usually cheaper) and the cost of just taking a shuttle or Uber from there to POM.

I'd choose to stay near FLL, but it is your call.

Have a great cruise! :D

There is virtually never a boost in price at the airport. Tons of Uber drivers wait there for rides. I wouldn't worry about surge pricing at all.

And yes, Tri-Rail is cheapest option but man, what is $25 worth to you?
