We are arriving by train from McKinley Princess Lodge thru a Princess Cruisetour. We don't leave until 1:30 pm. How does dinner work this first night as we have th 5:15 TD. Doubt that we will even be there by then. Any information would be really appreciated. It looks like we may only have difficulty making this early seating once in Skagway when we do the combo of bus then train for the Bennett train excursion.

The first night is open seating on the southbound voyages.

Muster drill will be either 7:30 or 7:45, after which the two MDRs will reopen to all comers no matter their seating for the remainder of the cruise.

I just returned from Island northbound/Golden southbound. Golden did not switch to ATD-for-all on the one late port day. But Island northbound was ATD-for-all on all three port days. Can't promise it will be similar southbound but given it has only two MDRs vs. three on Golden, it is possible you will be accommodated late in Skagway.

What time will they stop seating for dinner BEFORE the muster drill? Before boarding on the 4th of July we are doing the 26 glacier cruise, which ends at 5:30 right next door to where we'll board the Island Princess. We were hoping to have time to do dinner before the muster drill. Does that sound possible or will we have to wait until afterwards?

When we boarded the Coral Princess in Whittier on May 23 around 3:30-4:00, we were handed a card with a 5:15 dining time and it was explained that for this night only, everyone was assigned a time, with open seating. I think it did have the dining room on it, too. If the Island follows the same procedure you won't have time for the dining room before Muster (which was at 7:45) but you'll probably have time to get something in the buffet, or eat after the drill. Hope that answers your question. Also, if your tour ends at 5:30 you most likely won't get on board until 6ish?

That's the way it worked when we did a southbound several years ago. After a certain time (or after all cards for the early time were given out), the cards handed out then had the after muster time on it.

It did not matter if for the cruise you were early fixed seating, late fixed seating or anytime. That first evening everyone had open seating at a time assigned when boarding the ship.
