Venice caporetto

We will be in Venice from Wednesday 12pm- Thursday 6pm, the next day docked in port. What is the best way to travel from the cruise port inside the City, like to St Marks Square?

Should we buy a 48 tourist travel card ACTV?

Walking is not hard. What is a caporetto?

 

If you mean vaporetto, yes, this is one way to do it...pretty easy. It is simply a water bus. Just takes a Google search to see the routes. But walking is very easy, and a lot of fun.

check with your cruiseline to see if they offer shuttle service from the pier to St Marks ..... might be free, might be a charge per trip, might be a charge for unlimited trips.

I would encourage you to take at least one vaporetto ride along the Grand Canal, just soaking up the scenery. Maybe walk TO St Marks, then take an evening vaporetto back to Piazzale Roma, then walk or take the People Mover from P Roma to the pier.

Walk in Venice - imho, you will miss a lot of you use only public transportation.

I am in agreement with mapleleaves - I would take the #1 Vaporetto up or down the Grand Canal at least once. Rick Steves has a free audio tour that you can download and it is specifically geared for riding on the #1 vaporetto (you can download the guide to your smartphone). He also has additional free audio guides & maps of Venice.

Buy a Pop up map of Venice. They’re very cheap from Amazon, they fit in your pocket, they have vaporretto routes. Then walk everywhere, but do take the No1 or 2 Vaporetto Up the Grand Canal.
