IS Seabourn chauvinistic?

I am a male married to a male. I plan , book and pay for all of our cruises. Yet, everything we get is addressed to him. I have never gotten one mailer. Even onboard, he is listed first on any mailers we get. So, I can assure everyone that Seabourn is not chauvinistic lol

We are Dr. Linda and Mr. Philip SAMELASTNAME. We use my email address for Seabourn. I get separate offers and surveys in both our names sent to my email account. Invitations on board are addressed to both of us, using separate titles. The phone reps and crew [cruise director, Seabourn Square, dining room, cabin attendant] always call me Dr., not Mrs., once they have my face/name figured out, although I introduce myself as Linda SAMELASTNAME. They also seem to catch on to my name faster than my husband's.

I think the crew are wonderful and have never experienced patronizing or chauvinism, just wonderful service and what seems like genuine concern and caring.

Roxburgh, I understand what you are saying--that both you and your wife get mailings and emails. That hasn't happened for us--in spite of the fact that all payments have been made in my name and all contact has been through me. Perhaps it is just an anomaly. I just thought I would put the question out there. I had found it odd. We will contact SB and ask them to include me in mailings/emails. Perhaps it was an oversight on their part---for both of our SB cruises.

One question. Did you have to give them your husband’s email address?

I wonder if you had only given your contact details whether they would have asked for his. If so, that would be chauvinist.

I would send them a note saying that in future all communication should go to you alone, and see what they say.

When filling in my guest registration on Crystal, I was presently surprised that one of the questions was "how would you like to be addressed on board?". It has been years since I've been trying to be addressed by my married name on Seabourn. This is a subject that has turned into a pet peeve for me.

Without a doubt yes! Every time my DW is offered escort to her dinner seat whilst I'm left to follow on alone like a nearly forgotten lapdog, it reaffirms my low station in Seabourn life... ;)

Ah you’ve experienced that too? And I’m single. Ah well.

Guys can be escorted too! On our first SB cruise, my DH must have looked surprised when a waiter took my arm to escort me. Next thing we knew, the female hostess left her station, grabbed his arm and we all marched along to our table. Since then, he'll sometimes put on a wistful face and glance around for a friendly arm to appear. We all then have a good chuckle.

As an aside, my DH and I have different surnames. Most of the time, we get called correctly which I think is miraculous. Imagine having to scroll through a mental rolodex and remember different last names! On the odd occasion, I become Mrs. Hisname or he gets Mr. Myname but it's no big deal either way. We each get emails and surveys from SB to our separate email addresses and we get snail mail in both of our names.

I book the cruise and pay for the cruise through my TA. As usual the final documents came through from Seabourn addressed to my wife and showing as lead passenger. Its not even like it's in alphabetical order. So no I think it's just the luck of the draw.

I'm glad this thread I started has provided so much fodder for discussion. It was just a passing question for me--nothing I am really wound up about. In due time, I'll call SB and ask to be included on emails etc.
