glennmartin Posted July 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2018 Hello All we have just booked to sale on the epic in october and have started to look at the shore excursions and cannot believe the price we have seen on NCL £500 plus for a trip to Rome can anyone recommend tours for the following ports Naples Rome Pisa Cannes Palma thanks in advance
Rare KeithJenner Posted July 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2018 Not excursions as such, but if you are happy using public transport then you can do all three Italian ports for significantly cheaper than that (less than £100 the lot). There is lots of info in the ports of call section of this site. If you would rather do organised tours (which will get you to more places, but cost somewhere between the two) then the ports of call section will also help, as well as the roll call for your cruise. Son of a son of a ... Posted July 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2018 We paid $400 pp for the “Ultimate Rome” excursion through NCL. By far our most expensive excursion, but the experience was outstanding - from the transportation, sites, and guide. It was our first time in Rome and we wanted to see as much as possible ... we were also a little intimidated doing it ourselves and never being overseas before. teachatthebeach Posted July 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2018 We used Italy EU Tours and Joe Bananas Limos in Italy and Riviera Premium Tours in Cannes. Great tours and much better prices than NCL. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

That is where to look for recommendations. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Rare Huntingdon1701 Posted July 15, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2018 Cannes is very walkable, and it can be a relief to just wander around after the previous very long excursions in other ports. You can also go to the Lerin Islands in the bay for 15E, picking up the ferry just by where the ship's tender drops you off. One is a nature reserve and a small museum in the castle, which is where the Man in the Iron Mask was held. The other has a small monastery where the monks grow wine and give tours of their vinyard (busier experience). The old Market is also in walking distance. In Naples, I always use https://www.leisure-italy.com/tours/ They give an incredible experience, and I usually share the cost by bringing in a few people from the roll call. Tango99 Posted July 25, 2018 #8 Share Posted July 25, 2018 There is a section of the boards that deal with the ports. That is where to look for recommendations. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19 Book your train (use Trenitalia from Civitaveccia to St Piedro station) and walk from there to the Vatican for your tour. Also prebook - earlier if you Disembark at 7. as you need 90-120 minutes travel. For four of us in 2016 it was 44€ for the train return. And about 128€ for four escorted tours of Vatican including Sistine Chapel, and the palaces. Ste Peters Square and Basilica is open to the public and on Wednesday the Pope does his morning address. From there we canned to Trevi fountain. And back to train station in plenty of time for departure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
