Question about particular tables in the MDR.

I followed all the advice below. I made contact with Customer Service via the telephone. They were very helpful.

Ok to sum it up, in this thread we have collectively:

1) Asked the Audience (this thread) and we've

2) Phoned a friend (Customer Service)

3) Doesn't it still just come down to a 50/50 chance on getting the table?

If that's the case:

I'd keep envelope in the breast pocket with $omething in it. If the system works and the table is ready, you are rewarding HAL and the Maitre'd. If the system doesn't work and you have to think on the fly and flash the cash then so what as long as you get the table.

We always asked for specific able on all the ships and dining room managers most kindly obliged.

while dh was a generous tipper in almost all circumstances he would not have waved an envelope in an effort to 'b uy' a specific wanted table in MDR

A wide sincere smile and a whitty quip, or brief chit chat was a pleasant, inoffensive approach. We always requested 'our table' at the time we made our booking.

As mentioned, he was happy to say thank you with an envelope at the appropriate time..

Not to say he did not tip our thanks before we left the ship.. ALWAYS

Disagree. Kevin (ASIWISH) asked and got the answer and followed through.

I have phoned to request a specific table(s) on occasion and it has always been confirmed and in place when I got on board.

There is no 50//50 chance if it has been confirmed and no need to bribe.

We were seated their at table for 2 (our request when we booked fixed dining) and had terrific service. Enjoyed meeting and talking with the people at the other tables but still had privacy when we wanted...so much so that we all exchanged email addresses (which my husband lost) and took a group photo.

I will call HAL and hopefully contact the "coordinator" to request the types of tables which will best suit us.

However, if this fails I will speak to the maitre'd upon boarding. And tip appropriately.
