Are shops/restaurants walkable close to Boston dock?

We have seen the city on previous trips but would like to get off the ship for an hour or so and are wondering what is close by without venturing far.

Not much. You could walk to Harpoon Brewery which is not too far. A bit further of a walk is the Fort Point area of Boston with some shops and restaurants. It is better than it used to be, but still not that touristy. The convention center is right there, so if you are just looking for some Boston branded souvenirs, you could go into the hotels and check out what they sell. (e.g., Starbucks Boston mugs).

The Institute of Contemporary Art is a bit of a walk. I haven't been, so can't comment more.

Check out Yankee Seafood. It's just two blocks from the ship. Great lobster Mac and cheese.

Lots of new shops and restaurants in the Seaport District which starts about a mile from the port
