A belated welcome to the 70’s mysty and to the real beginnings of life.

Good enough to still do what you like and old enough to have an excuse for everything else. I have really enjoyed my 70s so far and I just hope the second half will be as enjoyable.

Thank you drron!  I have some awesome role models in the Cooler! 😁  Your awesome photos and colour commentary are serving as inspiration!  I am definitely looking forward to the next decade!

As I reflect on my own fear of being too late to the party, I've decided that I too wish to say Happy Birthday Mysty!  Although was it actually yesterday now?

Regardless, words of Winston Churchill that I had on my wall when working in Research and Development : "Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm."  So, sending enthusiastic birthday wishes your way and kudos to Mr. Mysty for the thoughtful flowers.

Thank you Que!  You didn't miss the party! 😁  You're right on time!  Awesome Churchill quote!  Maybe I should consider having it tattooed.  🤔

No 'guess the menu' game this time?  Food looks as delicious as always!

There was indeed a "guess the menu" game this month.....

That's a frightening number of cases!  Egad!

Mysty,  on another Australian travel forum one person I know  said this  =

"Maybe we should test all people in shopping centres  and then they'd find so many more covid cases than the percentage on a cruise line.   And now, given people don't need to isolate if well,  then, I don't get the issue. But people see cruises  and covid numbers  and faint."

But then  there is this =  from the same online newspaper !

"Christmas could be under threat from a fresh wave of Covid-19 that’s under way in Australia’s eastern states.

A “soup” of Omicron variants, including BA.5, BA.2.75, XBB and BQ.1, is driving up case numbers across the country, all with the ability to escape immunity according to NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant.

Dr Chant confirmed that NSW was entering its fourth Covid-19 wave."

Since food porn seems to be a recurrent theme in this august forae , I thought I'd slip in today's football watching food - kind of lasagna, with Italian sausage from local pig farm, tomatoes & garlic from our garden, EVOO from the olde country, cheese from Parma, It, locally made ricotta from happy Oregon coastal cows, plus provolone from Wisconsin (sorry, purists), topped with roasted eggplant from Central Valley, California, slathered with Costco's quite decent pesto, and more parma.  When you make something like this, if you are familiar with world history of trade, you realize that every thing in here used to be had at great expense - like black pepper, oregano & basil probably local, but pasta made from wheat grown in the Po River delta.   Regarding football (I'm talking about the weird American version,) NCAA (college) Oregon Ducks playing Washington Huskies - a traditional grudge match.  Ducks in contention for the Natty, perhaps.  When considering the US version of football versus proper football (soccer) the rest of the world plays, I'm reminded of the Rolling Stones song - "It's Only Rock & Roll, But I Like It."

Again no appropriate button for this.   The question should be are hospitals overrun at this point?  Or are the cases presenting as "flu"?  At some point they will have to stop the hysteria associated with the original "plague" situation and deal with the reality of the current situation.   Don't use initial knee jerk reactions if they are not required.

There is so much in this post to unpack.

As in JP’s farm? He’s the only one here I’ve seen talking about a farm.  I mean, there’s RachelG’s ranch, but JP’s is a farm, or once was. 😁

"The [Majestic Princess] outbreak is the single biggest case of cruise ship infections in Australia since the Ruby Princess docked in 2020."

What pattern do we see here?  This puts all the complaints about Silversea in a different quantum perspective!
