Does anyone remember when we were told to avoid bone  marrow as it was possibly likely to give us  some disease of cattle prevalent at the time?  Maybe mad cow disease?  Considered very dangerous.

We’ve been watching YouTubes on French brasseries this afternoon where they were featured more than once.  We were wondering whether they keep and wash the bones and refill them with some concoction or other. They all seemed prestine rather than looked like they had been baked.

I remember this a few years back when there was an outbreak of foot and mouth disease. Not an issue currently. I decided some time ago to live dangerously sometimes.

My trip to US next september is planned and arranged: Seattle (with already bought tickest to see Seahawks) and Portland. Rio-ATL (overnight in ATL) ATL-Sea (4 free days). Sea to Portland by car. Portland (7 days - 4 for conference, 3 free days). Portland-ATL (overnight in ATL) and ATL - Rio.

Any recommendation for Seattle?

Just got back from our latest lobster dinner in Maine.  This recipe is called Lobster & Asparagus – lots of lobster meat (all claw – can't make this dish in the Caribbean!), cream "& sherry" sauce but they obviously substituted garlic for the sherry tonight..., grilled asparagus diced and tossed throughout, over farfalle.  Lovely!  [sorry, I don't take pictures of my food – too busy eating!]

But for dessert I followed this advice:

I think I put my favourite on here a while ago

There was a young man from Nepal

Who went to a fancy dress ball

He said 'I will risk it, and go as a biscuit'

and the dog ate him up in the hall.

Apt here at present?

Thanks for the post so kind
It brightened my day, I don't mind
Your words were so sweet
Made my heart skip a beat
Grateful for your gesture, you're one of a kind!

Had cortisone injections in both dodgy knees a few weeks ago any can finally walk again. Thankfully found a reasonable doctor who is not just keen to sell me knee replacements.
Not ready to leave the high seas yet😊

Today we had a smiley lunch,

With hotdogs and chips to munch.

The sun was shining not so bright

But our hearts felt exceedingly light,

Truly a meal that packed a punch!

If you don't mind driving, one option is Olympic National Park on the Olympic Peninsula. It's too big to see in a day but still worth a visit.

Or, spend a day taking the ferries to some of the San Juan Islands. Orcas Island has great scenery from atop Mt. Constitution, and San Juan Island itself has some interesting history. Have you heard of the "Pig War" before? It's an amusing story.

We visited the area probably 20 years ago. We didn't really do much in the city proper, but lots to do in the immediate area. I'll have a peek at some of my old pix from then and see if I can recommend anything else.
