Holland America 3rd passenger upgrade

Has anyone had problems on Holland America upgrading to a higher cabin when there is a 3rd person in the cabin? The price for our cruise was reduced by $700 for the 3rd person but Holland will not let us upgrade to a cabin that has a cheaper price than we paid. We even tried to upgrade to a cabin higher that was advertised for $70 more. Holland wants us to pay $770 more using the excuse they won't look at the 3rd period rate. Our travel agent said they had never heard this before. Any suggestions of what we can do? Thanks

Chnces are....... If so, they must have made final payment

If they have refundable deposit and no 'surcharge from TA. Maybe they should cancel and book the ca bin they want at the now available HAL price ?

We have found that after final payment there is no room to renegotiate your fare or stateroom. All you can do is ask if they are offering any paid upgrades. And these are not always very good rates. Hope it works out for you.

I was able to upsell my cabin when the price went down on the category I wanted with a 3rd person in the room but it was prior to final payment.

The sailing offers the 3rd person at no additional cost and no deposit. Just need to pay port tax and insurance. This because I am a 4 star.

Actually when I did the upsell it was right after I returned home from the cruise so Igot the welcome home OBC.

After final payment the cabin went down in price. After final payment there is little wiggle room.

May be you can ask your TA to speak to a pricing specialist at HAL. Last month, I tried to get an upgrade because of a price drop, and the original/front line agent at HAL wasn't willing to do it and quoted a much higher amount that the advertised rate. When we asked for pricing for a specific cabin, we were transferred to a Pricing Specialist which were able to upgrade us to higher a category for the advertised difference.
