get there at 10:00-10:30 - you will be among the first to board with your suite status

ignore the email UNLESS it states anything about a deep cleaning, coast guard inspection, etc

Wow, 10-10:30am arrival. Is the terminal open for check in at that time?

Check in for your cruise will open some time between 10:30-11am. Boarding will start anywhere between 11:15am-Noon. First to board are passengers “in transit” (on back-to-back cruises), then Elite loyalty and full suite passengers, Platinum loyalty passengers and then general boarding by group in the order in which you checked in. You’ll receive a boarding group number when you check in.

Boarding usually goes pretty fast. You do not have to stop to have your photo taken by the ship’s photographer if you don’t want one. You will be stopped right after boarding the ship for a security photo by staff with a handheld device. Have your cruise card ready as they will scan that first before taking your photo.

We have a 1-3pm check in time and in a suite. Does Princess strictly adhere to those times? What will happen we get there early?

Just a suggestion unless there is a NORO outbreak on the prior cruise that they need to do a deep clean for.

We arrive around 10:00am.

Checkin starts around noon.

Sailed on Emerald out of Seattle August 12th. Left our hotel at 2nd and ? - one over from Lenora so downtown not too far from Pike Market about 10:30. Taxi to port and checked in and on the ship by 11:30. We were in a mini suite, not Elite either and we had received the same message - Boarding after 1:00. So go when you’re ready.

If you're on the Emerald going to Alaska, it will be sailing out of Pier 91 in Seattle and while the terminal building may open a few minues after 10am at the earliest, you will probably not be able to go up to check-in until 10:30am at the earliest. One note to remember is that while you will need to have your ID (or whatever it is you are using (e.g. passport/passport card/enhanced driver's license/birth certificate & gov. issued photo ID) and eBoarding pass for the quickest processing through the processing on the first floor, you will ONLY need your ID when you go through check-in upstairs as the eBoarding pass is not needed for check-in at all.

Can someone help me understand the two step process?

I’m having trouble with the idea of “processing on the first floor” and ”checking in upstairs”.

Your documents are checked to make sure that anyone needing a Canadian visa (there are well over 150 countries whose passports require a Canadian visa to be in the passport to go on the cruises to Alaska) have them and then if the person doesn't have an eBoarding pass for the current cruise, then the passenger's name is checked against the ship's manifest to insure that they are on the correct pier on the correct day (yes, we have had passenger's show up on the wrong pier in Seattle, the wrong day, and even the wrong city!) before they are allowed to go up and go through security and be checked in. That's why I mentioned 2 different floors. That should make more sense now, I hope. Sorry about the confusion.
