Any more stories about neighbors?

About 20yrs ago my wife and I flew our plane to Las Vegas, stayed at the Stratosphere for a few days. The night prior to our departure, a group of men entered the room next door around 11pm. They became very noisy, we needed to get up early the next day to depart prior to the windy conditions that start around 10am along the Colorado River. The gentlemen next door departed their room around 12 midnight, probably to gamble. They returned around 4am (extremely noisy). I Knocked on the wall between the rooms for them to lower the noise but to no avail. So tried to get at least an hour or two of sleep. Got up around 6:30 am, packing our cases, turned on the radio to highest volume, placed the radio against the wall put a pillow over it and continued to pack our cases.. They pounded on the wall to complain, I pounded back and yelled that is what you get for being so noisy when you arrived. We left felling somewhat happy (I'm sure they weren't). Had a nice calm flight home to Scottsdale.

Would easily have been solved by simply knocking on their door and asking them to lower the volume a bit.

It sounded like knocking on the wall didn't help, so knocking on the door likely would have yielded the same results. Plus then there's always the possibility of things becoming physical when you're looking at someone face to face.

Knocking on the door and speaking to them directly rather than using passive aggressive actions like banging on a wall would have been the first method to try. There is always the possibility of it 'becoming physical' no matter how you interact with another human being.

On this topic, we were on the Bliss on 9/8 and the only thing that bothered us was the smoke smell on our balcony that the wind would push to our cabin. It was multiple times. Cig, weed, cigar and pipe smoke, you could smell them all. Wife talked loudly about the weed smell and if they didnt know that edibles existed. Got a chuckle from our neighbor.

Sounds like a lot of inconsiderate people who only care about themselves.

I really don’t want to start a barrage of negative or nasty posts, but I just would like to ask you if you reported them? I was on that same cruise and saw someone smoking an e-cigarette in the non smoking casino. I quietly went over to a casino staff member and reported it. If he wanted to smoke that, he should have gone where it was allowed. He knew it wasn’t allowed because he was trying to sneak a puff and thought no one would see him. If it was multiple times or only once I would have definitely reported them. I’m sure with all the posts on CC that smoking on the balcony is not allowed, you would or should have known that. You only condoned their obnoxious behavior by not reporting it and allowing it to continue. JMO

We couldnt tell from where it was coming from exactly, so it was hard to report them. I would have probably gone to them first if i knew their location and asked to share, i mean, tell them not to do it in their balcony when the ship was stationary.

The only other time that the smell popped up a bit was when we were at the glacier, slow moving boat made for lost of smoke smell. But, i could have also reported the captain for turning us the way of the chimney smoke. Took a while to get that diesel smell off our room.

LOL, thanks for replying so courteously and with a hint of humor! I only ask because they can put others in a possibly dangerous situation especially with the variety of substances they were using.

I guess it’s hard to really tell unless you are right next door and hear them partaking.

I get the funnel smoke how it smells and would have reported the captain too.;). We did the race track and when it was over we were covered head to foot in a whiteish ash from the funnel spewing out water and soot. Boy was it ugly.

This wasn't on a cruise but during our recent stay in the Seychelles, our room had a connecting door to the room next to ours. The showers in both rooms were adjacent to the connecting door and you could hear everything. The first night, someone took a shower at 11:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. Thought, "O.K., they have an early flight." Happened again on the second night as well as the third. Only two people in the room and it seemed to be the male who was doing the showering.

Did the sound wake you up?

What does ANY of that have to being an obnoxious neighbor?

No worries, life's too short to be serious.

We never even went to see where the racetrack was, we could hear it from the Thermal Suite though, but it was not loud at all. A faint vroom.

We had some heavy stepping people above us, but not enough for me to go talk to them. Overall this was the best cruise we ever had. I think the non-port side of the ship benefited from going into the glacier the way we did and the way the capt turned the boat. Got some great straight pics from the glacier.

Obnoxious fellow passenger on our recent Sun cruise:

We usually hung out at the Tradewinds Bar, listening to the music and having phenomenal drinks (try the Honey Lemonade) while munching on that bar mix they serve in the little clear canisters. One night a young 20 something sat down next to me and proceeded to stick his finger inside the canister to get the mix, lick his fingers, then repeat. I almost tossed my cookies right then and there.
