shipsealand Posted August 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2018 In mid-October our ship will be sailing into New York harbor to the Brooklyn cruise terminal, arriving 7:15 AM. How is the view, if any, of the Statue of Liberty? Have a balcony on the port side, would the view from that location be good?
Brighton Line Posted August 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2018 You do not pass the SOL, and when docked you have Governors Island between you and Liberty Island. That said if you will see some of the SOL in the distance. Address of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is 72 Bowne Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231, which is a not actually the terminal but if you look at Google Earth you can see where the ship docks in relation to the SOL. And most times they turn the ship before docking so your side will be towards the dock and not the statue.
George C Posted August 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Love cruising out of nyc , seeing skyline and SOL is great perfer leaving from Manhattan, but Brooklyn is also great . Wish more cruises left from there.
BklynBoy8 Posted August 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2018 This was my photo of the SOL from QM2 docking at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal last July 2017. It was from Our Port Side Cabin before she started to swing around to dock at the Terminal flush against the Port Side of the vessel. Hope this helps you.....Bon Voyage..... TruckerDave Posted August 31, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 31, 2018 If you have time before or after your cruise and want a good (and free) view of the SOL just hop the Staten Island ferry and you get a great view both to and from SI.
shipsealand Posted September 1, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted September 1, 2018 Thanks for photo which shows clearly that we will see the statue. I looked at Google Map previously and thought I would and this photo shows that the port side balcony for our October sailing will work out.
