ropomo Posted September 3, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2018 I am on a St. Lawrence cruise in Oct. and am a very light phone/text user. My carrier does not have a plan for Canada. Can anyone provide any informed information regarding per minute/text roaming charges in Quebec/Nova Scotia? I would not expect to use more than a few minutes voice and maybe a dozen or so texts, so getting another sim card and Canada plan would not be cost effective if roaming is reasonable. I have found only one website with a table of international roaming charges which is quite old but indicates quite reasonable charges in Canada (4 cents a minute voice and around 10 cents a text), but would like to see if anyone has any current/accurate info. 1025cruise Posted September 3, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2018 The only reliable person to ask would be your carrier, since it will vary.
Nitemare Posted September 4, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2018 I agree with 1025 -- it all depends on your carrier. Call them to find out how much and also to ask how to make sure the phone will work there. My phone has worked all over South America and Iceland, but didn't do a darn thing in Quebec earlier this summer. Had to call them from a parking lot to get detailed instructions on how to activate to work (perfectly) on the Canadian system
