Switching cruises. Penalty?

The only time I have been able to switch a cruise and not get a a penalty for it is when they canceled my Feb 2019 cruise due to booking the ship out to a private party. As soon as I found out about it I called and said I didn't want to cancel and I wanted the cruise the week before that was the same but different ship. Took them a bit of time to figure it out but they moved me to that cruise with the original price I paid and no penalty for it.

No big deal. I have only booked cruises on ships, or more recently within 2 weeks of a cruise, for years now so I was thinking based on my personal experience. Wasn't thinking at the time that there are plenty of different ways to book a cruise. And I am clueless about casino related fares. For some reason betting a maximum of $25 per cruise doesn't get you anything.

Lol, I am sure you were close to the letter stating you qualify for a free cruise. Right there with you on the gambling front.

Thanks again for all the info and insights too. I am going to have to rethink all this because in the meantime, the rates for the cruise I was thinking of switching to went UP. I think it was a one day "sale." Anyway, one more question: I check my cruise rates a few times/day for price drops. Past week my cruise has not showed up. Does this mean it's booked?

There are times when they reach an occupancy limit and will not show on the booking engine. Without going back thru, are you inside final payment?

Journeys cruises def could be sold out. I can check the TA booking engine later if you want.

If you have nothing else to do, SURE! lol. Just wondered why it hasn't shown up. Amazing it sold out so fast. My family and friends who are "non cruisers" always wonder why I book cruises so far in advance. There is reason #1 Reason #2 is that I was able to book a cabin exactly where I want it!

The Oct 27 Journeys cruise out of Galveston has been saying sold out for some time :(

I was interested in it. Cruises seem to have gone up and be more popular than last year.

Journeys are very popular. We are on one on the Breeze in November and it has been sold out since springtime.
