dkay1211 Posted September 25, 2018 #101 Share Posted September 25, 2018 One of the best cruises we ever had was back on Miracle when she was brand new and sailing out of Baltimore (yes Baltimore) but we have been hesitant to go back to Carnival following all the reports and videos of bad behavior on the ships. I’d be grateful for an honest assessment from recent cruisers - does Carnival deserve its new reputation ? I may not be as experienced a cruiser as others on the thread, but have sailed on Carnival more than once, once on Holland, and once on NCL. Although we never consider any cruise a bad one, we actually prefer Carnival. We thought there were more activities and the fellow passengers were more laid back and fun. We have always cruised during more "off" times (i.e. not in the Summer or the Holidays), so not sure if that makes a difference, but we have 2 more Carnival cruises booked and we can't wait! ab5cc Posted September 25, 2018 #102 Share Posted September 25, 2018 I will be leaving on my 13th Carnival Cruise in a few weeks. I have sailed from Miami and Galveston for all of them. The only behavior that I have ever witnessed which bothered me has been irate passengers at the Purser’s desk. People need to calm down and roll with it, it’s a vacation. Have fun. The issues were really no big deal, It just made everyone uncomfortable.
matymil Posted September 26, 2018 #103 Share Posted September 26, 2018 With over 3000 people on a cruise...... You will not please everyone.I get an early seating to see the entertainment.... All the wanna bees, kids out of control, first timers and the uppity people. :'):'):'):') Just curious, what's a wanna bee?
matymil Posted September 26, 2018 #104 Share Posted September 26, 2018 bad behavior? been on 3 carnival cruises this year alone. Does a lady getting food from the lido line before it opens count? I have never saw anything worse than that. Honestly. LOL!!!! The worst I ever saw was on the 1st Vista cruise out of the US from NYC. They did a throwback midnight buffet....you would have honestly thought you were in the electronics dept in a Wal-Mart on black Friday. I literally saw a woman take an entire strawberry shortcake off the table and walk away with it.
Bernardo62 Posted September 26, 2018 #105 Share Posted September 26, 2018 Just curious, what's a wanna bee? A person that wants to be something or someone they are not. A person who is fake. Example: I'm buying everyone drinks when I know I don't have the money for it. I tell you I'm a millionaire when I'm not.

matymil Posted September 27, 2018 #108 Share Posted September 27, 2018 That’s hilarious!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Looking back on it now it is. At the time I wanted to powerslam someone through a table. You would have thought these people hadn't eaten in days. John Heald was there actually which may be why ive been on 3 cruises since then and never seen another one of these lol
Floozama Posted September 27, 2018 #109 Share Posted September 27, 2018 I’m not so sure it’s the cruise line, but more the cohort - sure in Australia the younger party crowd love P&O and P&O seem to cater for that. so if I take one of those I expect to deal with a good range of drunken bogans . So I don’t. Having said that I’ve cruised princess many times - sometimes the same itinerary- the experience can be very different depending on the cohort - if it’s full of grumpy, whinging entitled people it’s not always that’s pleasant. On the other hand where there’s a good mix (I don’t just mean age wise) it can be a great cruise. My experience is that when the cohort is “not so happy” - this also impacts the crew - like any other workplace full of negativity it’s hard to always be your best. So in my experience- have a good time, consider others, be pleasant and if you have status you probably paid less than others so don’t use status as an excuse to be unnecessarily demanding [emoji1] IMHO it’s us cruisers that generally create the experience! AmberTeka Posted September 27, 2018 #110 Share Posted September 27, 2018 We were on the Fascination during Graduation Month, End of May, for most colleges. The ship had new graduates, with or without their parents on board. I thought they would ruin the trip. Instead, I have never had so many doors opened for me in my life/ I was "Yes.Mam" dozens of times a day. Two played Trivia with us. When we won, brought their parents over to meet us. 2 young ladies, in barely there bikinis did show up in the Lido buffet for lunch. Maybe if I looked like that, I would do it too, but I hope not. It reflected on them I thought. The guys were always clustered by the dozens around the machine where you shoot at it and win money. They were never rowdy. That was one of my favorite cruises. Crazy4Camping Posted September 27, 2018 #111 Share Posted September 27, 2018 I just got off Pride yesterday...my 28th cruise since 1992. Five different lines...RCL,CCL, NCL, MSC and Celebrity. I've seen bad (rude) behavior on every single cruise over the years from kids throwing ice cream cones in the pools to adult fist fights on the pool decks...Dirty diapers being thrown overboard, dishes with food left in elevators, naked people sleeping in the corridor...lol It's not the line, it's the people! Enough said...:) OMG! I truly hope I don't see anything like that!
marinewife67 Posted September 27, 2018 #112 Share Posted September 27, 2018 We've cruised Royal and Carnival. On our last Royal cruise a guy got in my face and yelled at me that I was a terrorist (I am Muslim and wear a hijab) in front of my daughter. The cruise line actually handled it very well, but it was scary. As far as Carnival though I haven't really noticed anything.
mredandchis Posted October 1, 2018 #113 Share Posted October 1, 2018 If you used the forum to give you an accurate view of how a cruise is, I would probably never cruise again :D Yeah I am seeing that also. I have just started reading these boards and I am surprised in a way. I have met some wonderful people on board. Yeah there is the occasional teenagers in the corridor, kids running around the lido, and of course the people that think the sign "the buffet is closed" is only a suggestion. But then again i seen this same thing on every cruise line i have been on. If I never cruised and didnt know better I wouldnt after reading some of these posts. (and i say that in general over all the boards. )

Towel Critter Posted October 1, 2018 #115 Share Posted October 1, 2018 We've been on 15, I think, Carnival cruises and I've never witnessed a violent incident or act of bullying. I'm sure it happens from time to time, just as it does in any other environment where alcohol is served to many and abused by some. But I very much doubt these acts are any more, or any less, prevalent on a Carnival ship.

Who's with me that this guy has the best nickname on Cruise Critic?!?!? :p I have been on 14 Carnival cruises, all since 2013. I have never seen anything like anybody describes above - fist fights, ice cream being thrown in the pool, diapers thrown overboard (and we usually have a balcony). Even if there's a hothead in a crowd, the general vibe on a Carnival ship is so much about FUN, so laid back and FUN, I think cooler heads would prevail most of the time. Florings Posted October 1, 2018 #120 Share Posted October 1, 2018 The worst behavior I've encountered is slamming balcony doors, smoking on the balcony, reserving chairs with towels/books/etc for hours, pushing or butting into buffet line, off color language especially as the drinking escalates, rowdy unsupervised kids. But nothing that keeps me from cruising again and again!

Sounds like one of my Carnival trips where it seemed like most of the people were there for bachelor and bachelorette parties. Even the bikini story. And yes, even when they were drunk, we got the "yes sir" and "yes ma'am" courtesies. The biggest change we saw during the cruise was that the casino was packed and noisy the first night. Not so much after that.
BellaSweet Posted October 1, 2018 #122 Share Posted October 1, 2018 I've never really seen much bad behavior.. The worst is when we were at guest services after boarding..and seeing how horrible those workers are treated. We waited in line, listening to the screaming..and when it was our turn, politely stated our issue..was super kind to them(just like I always am with people in customer service)..and ended up with enough free drink coupons to last our whole trip. Didn't even ask for them..the lady just handed them to us for being patient and understanding. I don't think Carnival deserves the bad reputation it sometimes gets. Its sometimes like..the guests think "I am on vacation! I paid an arm and a leg for this $1500 cruise*eyeroll* and I deserve everything! I'm the only one that matters!" Its sad. I don't understand why more people can't think "I'm on vacation!! I'm going to enjoy every minute and appreciate it!"

missygirl Posted October 3, 2018 #124 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Cruised out of Charleston, we live close, and have cruised twice with a man on a scooter. He speeds around like crazy and watched him run over a older lady's foot in the lounge and never stopped. Security had to go to Serenity to tell him and he did come back over and said sorry not sure he really meant it and every time I saw him he was once again racing around. We live close to Charleston port as well (15-20 minute drive), I think he must take every cruise out of Chas! Last cruise out of Chas was on the Sunshine in Nov 2017 and I swear either he or his brother was on there. Speaking of the Sunshine, she comes to Charleston next May to replace the Ecstasy! So ready, love the Sunshine (been on here 3 times)
