Do you use cash in the machines in the casino?

The casino has various ways in regard to money. First, you can put cash in the slot machines at any time. When you're ready to leave that machine you just hit the "cash out" button and whatever is left will be credited to your "bank" on your card. When you go to the next machine you take the money from the "bank" on your card. Option two is to charge the money to your cabin. When you input your card it will give you the choice to be able to charge the money to your cabin. The only time you need to be careful is if you're at the tables. If you tell the dealer to advance money against your cabin then they will charge a 3% fee. BUT - if you have, for example, $300 in your bank on your card you can ask them to give you $100 against that bank money. If you do it that way then there's no charge.

Hope this helped and that I didn't confuse you even more.

On my two cruises last year I played poker on the automated hold-em machines several times. I charged my room for credit to be put on my card more than once. I was never charged a fee. I've seen lots of reference to 3% on the boards. What's the difference?

There is no 3% charge if you are playing at a machine (I think the Poker-Pro qualifies as a machine. The 3% is only for the table games (like Blackjack).

The DW will charge her allotment for gambling against the room on the Slot Machines and as I only do Table Games, I'll plunk down a few hundred at my first go and then just keep the chips until the end of the cruise when I'll cash them in.

Of course, depending on how often I play and how it goes sometimes more cash is required, but once my allotment is gone, thats it. :->

So to get cash would you go to a machine first, get cash, then take the card to the table for chips? i want to avoid the 3% fee.

I’m not an expert on the chips but you can buy casino chips/cash pre cruise at no charge,  Just in case it helps.

They are getting smarter and tougher on the slots from what I have read on the boards so I hesitate to advise since it’s also dependent on the ship.

But (assuming you are not using non refundable OBC) you could charge a bit to your cabin, give a few spins, tires and then cash out.

Or just bring some cash on board 😉
