Sailaway John Posted October 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2018 Both wife and I are considering cruising on the Sun Princess from Perth back to Sydney. We have cruised on the Sun before, a few years ago, but would like to know what condition is the ship in now. We prefer a balcony and have heard that the Sun recently underwent dry dock facilities. What did they do? and how is the ship?. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has travelled on her recently. Thank you Sailaway John
Aus Traveller Posted October 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2018 We were on the Sun P prior to the drydock. We didn't notice any problems.

Sailaway John Posted October 21, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted October 21, 2018 Thanks for that info, but what about the staterooms, have they had any upgrade, especially carpet in hallways, mattresses in the bedrooms. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Thanks in advance for any replies. Soft furnishings in cabins are generally replaced as necessary on a rolling basis. Have never head of Princess updating cabins en masse during a drydock. Always the same old, same old no matter how extensive work in public rooms may be. Fair question about the hallway carpets. As Princess is phasing out the different color trim on the port side vs starboard side perhaps someone just off will respond. Unless it was already done the previous drydock. p0240 Posted October 23, 2018 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2018 Hi, We just got off the Sun Princess yesterday, after doing 4 day cruise out of Fremantle, WA. The ship was lovely, clean and well maintained, certainly not one of the newer ships, but it is kept very well. The staff were amazing, food in dining room (we had traditional dining at 7.30pm) was really good, plenty of choice, and the few times we used Horizon buffet around lunch time, it was clean, plenty of variety. Burger bar around pool was good too. The mattress and pillows were amazing, like sleeping on a cloud. All furniture in Wheelhouse Bar was new, and no issues with carpets anywhere. The crew were continually doing maintenance, which is normal on the ships anyway. I wouldn't hesitate to book another cruise on the Sun. Hope that helps! At first glance, it looks the same but there are colored dots in the carpet that are a different color. I have no clue if the Sun Princess has this or not.
