I have found that self-directed exercising using the machines and free weights are at no charge. Any 'formal' class there is a fee usually ranging from $15 - $95 pending on the class type and its' time frame.

We were on the Silhouette 7 to 21 October. There were some free exercise-to-music sessions each day on the pool deck. A small number of participants did their exercises while in the pool. The sessions I saw had about 20 people.

OK, here's the scoop:

Generally speaking, the format is much the same. There is usually a free 30 minute "stretch" class at 7:00. Followed by a free 30 minute "Abs or Body Work" class at 07:30.  On longer cruises with a more "mature" crowd, these classes are busier.

At 08:00 and/or 09:00 there will be sign-up paid classes. Yoga or Pilates or Zumba or Spin at about $12 per class, but they do add the gratuity to that pricing. Note that you can purchase a package of several classes which will reduce that price for you. There's also a cruise long series of more ambitious exercise  classes, usually called "Iron Man" or something like that. That package  is more expensive.

More limited Afternoon classes are also offered.

Throughout the day, there will be line dancing or Zumba by the pool, but those are with an activities staff member (not a certified fitness instructor). You'll get free exercise, but the price is that you become free entertainment for the crowd!

If none of this works for your timing, there's always the gym equipment and treadmills. Just avoid early morning; treadmills are busy. I'd suggest that you wander up to the gym, soon after you board. There should be fitness class schedules printed up, and often the instructors will be available to answer questions.

Happy sailing!
