Hurricane Willa

I have not been able to find much on the actual damage to Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta from the storm.  I am sure that a lot of the poor have lost housing and businesses.  And probably some lives as well -- mudslides and flash floods can be deadly.  But I have not seen any death toll figures.

As to damage to the tourist areas, the construction there is much better and much more able to stand up to robust winds and rains.  I would not expect much impact on the cruise ship tourists unless you are there in the next couple of weeks.

Storms can churn up a lot of sediment.  Snorkeling, diving and tourist fishing can be impacted for weeks.

My prayers are for the communities hit by the storm, and the families living there.
