Long time platinum plus cruiser . Just walked off the ship and enroute home. A few quick thoughts and some words of advice .

I had had the soda package and some bartenders asked to swipe it and others didn’t . When i told them that i had the soda package, they still swiped the card. What was strange was that  every time (5+} i had it swiped, i was charged $12-15 for a cocktail. This resulted in multiple visits to the guest services desk to get it removed . In hindsight , it was strange not to get a receipt and i should’ve known better . Just be careful to review your folio carefully

The spa was good bit I’ve noticed a few cutbacks such as the scrub packet you used to get and even the ear buds are no longer provided. Still a great value for $200

i found it a little different than previous sailings , the room attendant was average at best . He missed two nights , failed to pick up laundry and dry cleaning . No big deal but not what I’m used to. I had an aft balcony which was beautiful. I did an upgrade bid of $200 and it was accepted

The food was good, the weather was ok. Bermuda looks like it’s getting ready to shut up shop for the winter . It was very quiet and even though multiple ships were in before us, the shopkeepers were saying it was dead !!

i did the usual cruise next and was left a bit confused . They charged me for two , gave me no OBC and then later removed one . Apparently i have a double reward . I’m not sure what it all means, I’ll figure it out later . What was aggravating was that it showed two deposits ($500) on my bill but a day later one was removed . I felt i needed an accountant sometimes .

Having been inthe bar business for 30 years, i feel the bartenders are up to something with the soda charges. When i challenged one after i opened the app to check if i was charged , he stated that sometimes it dumps any open drinks on to the next drink swiped??. Again , check your charges .

I only caught the comedisns so no info on shows  . The casino was really smoky but it did no deter me unfortunately 😫

walked off the ship by 730 btw and now almost home in CT

I tried to call Guest Services to remove erroneous drink charges in Sept on the Escape. and they said I had to come to Guest Services to have it removed. I did not purchase drinks, other than soda, but was charged on three different occasions for bar drinks. I challenged this. and was told they would look into it, but no, I had to go to the desk to have it cleared. Check your bill.

Are you able to just call Guest Services from your stateroom instead of having to stand in line to have them adjust the error?

I’ve never had success over the phone , it’s either waiting on hold or having language issues

  • 4 weeks later...

So are you saying to NOT let them swipe your card if you have prepurchased the Soda Package because they will charge you for the soda in error? I thought I had read that they put a sticker on your card and the bartenders just look at your card for the soda package.. Do I need to ensure they do not swipe it?

This past week on Escape some bartenders swiped and some did not.  Fortunately we never had any soda or bar charges appear other than tax while we were in the two US ports.  I did hear that others were charged and needed to go to GS to clear it up.

Over the years have ordered perhaps 300 sodas using cards marked for soda package.  Bar waiters took the card perhaps 200 times (just looked at it perhaps 100 times).  Never offered a receipt and never charged.
