MrsHart2018 Posted November 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2018 Hi Everyone, My husband and I(married 3 weeks-it's our honeymoon!) are heading to Miami later this week for a Carnival Cruise to Amber Cove, Grand Turk, St Thomas and San Juan. On other cruises I've been on, sometimes you are able to find tour guides or excursions that are not affiliated with Carnival. Does anyone have any info or recommendations for those in any of these ports? Any info would be helpful. We are open to simply doing the carnival excursions but wanted to see if there was anything else out there.
CruiserBruce Posted November 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2018 Welcome to Cruise Critic! The place on Cruise Critic where you will find the info you are asking about is the Ports boards, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/456-caribbean/
Rare mom says Posted November 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2018 You can also check the Roll Call for your sailing to see what your fellow cruisers have planned. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/91-carnival-roll-calls/
cb at sea Posted November 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2018 For things like shopping or beaches, you really don't need ANY excursion to do those things. A bit of research on your ports is required, tho....google your ports and the activity you'd like, and you will get tons of info that will make a DIY day easy and cheaper than excursions! Amber Cove, while not a "private" island/beach, is still just a cruise created port....you really won't need an excursion there at all...consider this a beach day! paul929207 Posted November 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2018 We have gotten private tours at the end of the gangway for St. Thomas. Cost was $20 pp for a few hour tour. That was a couple of years ago.
