Cigar Lounge

thank you -

not going to lie, it will kind of suck crossing the Atlantic in December and having no place that is sheltered to have a cigarette in the really cold weather....one would think that if there is an indoor place for cigars, there should be at least ONE indoor place that allows cigarettes.

I agree, and I'm a non-smoker. Churchills used to allow cigarettes, in fact in the days when I smoked you saw very few cigars, but that changed two or three years ago. Personally, I'd slope in there and have a quick puff, but I like the odd spot of rebellion.

Good luck!

Not going to lie, I also like a little rebellion as well (I also don't like freezing my ass off, so there's that), so I have no doubts that I will pop in there if it's too cold on deck to have a quick smoke. What's the worst that can happen? Someone tells me I need to leave the room or put my cigarette out?

I am a non-smoker as well but agree that there should be someplace inside for smokers. However, I hope that in being rebellious you don't take to smoking on your balcony. Then those non-smokers next to and above your cabin can't fully use their balconies.

I also see that you are from Las Vegas and I have always wondered about the relationship between smoking and gambling. I saw a news story a couple of weeks ago that said in the U.S. less than 15% of the population now smokes, yet when I am in the Las Vegas casinos it seems like most of the people are smoking. Wonder why that is.

While we're not happy about not being allowed to smoke out on the balcony, on all cruises since it's been banned, we've never broken that rule. We both try to be considerate smokers- it's a disgusting addiction that I wish I had never started, and have been unable to kick yet. That being said, I agree, especially in the winter with cold weather, it would be sensible and polite of the ship to at least have ONE indoor location for smoking - even if it's in the cigar lounge (I honestly don't know why the cigar lounge is only for pipes and cigars, they're all the same thing, just in a different form).

As for Vegas and smoking - it's the booze. Add together 24 hour drinking, free (well, if you're gambling) booze, and the following attitude "it's Vegas, I can do whatever I want", and you get lots of people doing a lot worse than smoking. I actually know lots of non smokers who smoke when they are in Vegas drinking and gambling.
ONE hotel/casino in town tried to be a fully non-smoking casino for a few years, that's now strictly a hotel - they closed the casino completely. There are non-smoking tables and slot machine areas in most casinos, but they're usually pretty empty.
