Wolffie89 Posted December 1, 2018 #151 Share Posted December 1, 2018 I just asked that question. I'm not really sure how this benefits anyone if they are taking the promo chips of you win and just giving you the same amount in cash chips. You would be breaking even every hand you win and losing you money every time you lose. You would never be ahead..

If they leave the promotional chips on the table for your next hand then in reality you are playing through more than $2000 in promotional chips. In order to only play through the original $2000 they should be replacing the promotional chips with real chips after each win. nolimits Posted December 1, 2018 #159 Share Posted December 1, 2018 So that means your play thru is a lot more than purchased amount?
nolimits Posted December 1, 2018 #160 Share Posted December 1, 2018 And you have to win your purchase back. if you have great run gambling can’t do anything wrong from first bet. Last night settling up 10,000 cash still have 2200 in promo chips there useless but you payed 2000 real money for them

If I were to have this happen, can I take the remaining promotional chips home with me? Then, use them on my next Royal Caribbean cruise? Food for thought. There was something in the fine print that they can only be played by the purchaser and that you had to show your seapass card. Presumably that would mean that they are checking that you purchased them for that cruise. Edited December 1, 2018 by Ourusualbeach

Since you cant take the promo chips home, you might as well bet table max. You have nothing to lose at that point. You can only win. There's something flawed about this. I thought promo bets are one time wagers only. Once you bet it, shouldn't it be removed?

So if you get the $2000 in promo chips that you pay for and the $200 bonus in promo chips, $200 wouldn't be the table max. The other $2000 is your money you already spent. The promo stays if you win the hand and gets taken away if you lose. They expect you to spend hours in the casino to get rid of the $2000 promo chips you have. I guess if you had your 2000 promo chips the last night you would have to go all in and either get 2000 back in chashable chips or lose it all Edited December 2, 2018 by Wolffie89

What i would say is that you are better off purchasing the smaller package then what you normally spend i.e.if you normally spend 1000 maybe only purchase the 500 package. if you normally spend 1500 then maybe only purchase the 1000 package etc. so that you likely will use the promotional chips and hopefully win back in the real chips Edited December 3, 2018 by Robinhill left something out

I’ve never seen it before today. When we get money off of our sea pass at the casino they give us slot tickets or chips. You can’t turn those back in for cash. You have to cash them in the machine or change out your chips at the tables before getting cash in return. I’m assuming this would work the same way. it does work the same. Karlos1960 Posted December 3, 2018 #173 Share Posted December 3, 2018 All, This is "freeplay" chips, and should not be redeemable for cash. My big question is how are the chips replaced when I win or push. If I win, is my freeplay chip replaced with a cashable chip. Would highly recommend folks checking out the Wizard of Odds web site. He describes different chips, and their value. In this case, I believe he refers to these RCL freeplay chips as "non-negotiable": https://wizardofodds.com/gambling/promotional-chips/ Final thoughts. Years ago, I was able to buy chips on my seapass card, which went against the credit card. The onboard casino's stopped this practice, since the extra 3% paid to the credit card companies ate into their profits/margin. I think it unlikely that RCL would off up 5% profit (additional free play chips), plus incur the cost of the credit card when purchased ahead of time pre-cruise (on the credit cards). These freeplay chips are definitely not as valuable as real cashable chips. That said, I will be cruising on the Brilliance in 8 days out of Tampa, and will buy the smallest amount to better understand the ramifications. Royal charges a 5% fee unless your a club Royal member or have a cash account set up in which case they waive the fee.
