Pre-purchase casino credits

I just bought the $2000 slot credit, with the $200.00 bonus credit.

My concern, is that I won't accrue the proper slot points due to the "Promotional credits" being played. It states that the full $2200.00 is considered "Promotional credits".

Does anybody know for sure??

I was on a ship 2 weeks ago playing with the chips.  They definitely do leave the promo chips in play on a winning wager. It's not like the old match play coupons where they took the coupon win or lose.

I think I could live with this at the UTH table.  Enough chips go back and forth that it would not take too many hours of playing to convert the "sticky" chips to a slightly smaller number of real chips.

Someone may have already posted this, but I just checked my cruiseplanner for my next cruise.  It offers $200 casino credit with a $20 scratch card, $25 casino credit with a $5 scratch card, or $75 casino credit with a $10 scratch card.  If it is not bonus playable casino credit, I would not be willing to purchase.

So do we know if there is any condition on the original buy in amount ($2000)?  Is there any requirement to play any of this? If not, you could buy multiple amounts of this, get your bonus, and then cash out the original. You then play with only the bonus. Something doesn’t seem right. I’m leaving on Harmony next Sunday and is very tempted to try this but a little reserved. I called Casino royale and even a supervisor couldn’t answer my questions.

I’ve posted this in the casino forum but no replies yet.

I'm pretty sure you will get the whole $2200 in non-cashable chips.  Otherwise it's too easy to just convert the $200 in non-cashable chips to $1xx and have essentially no risk.

I think your wrong, I think only the 200 will be non cashable.   Time will tell once someone uses this.

Thankfully, I have never been too sick to gamble on any cruise. Since I normally gamble that much, I think it is a good buy.

Same here, knock on wood!

I think we are going to buy $500 each for our cruise that starts next Saturday.  If we/anyone really knew how it was going to work we may have purchased more but we'll start with $1,000 and report back.

Last I checked Royal was in the business to make money. With no requirement to play through the original amount they are guaranteed to lose money. If someone approved letting only the bonus amount to be played and the rest could be cashed out then they should be fired as they just opened the gate for anyone looking for free money to gamble with.

Most land casinos do just that....they force you to use the bonus money.   And most gamblers don't stop at just the bonus amount...…...I say that from experience.   My bet is they only "make " you use the bonus money..the rest can be cashed.  RCI's "bet" is they hope you will play ( and lose) , the entire amount.   Either way, if you gamble, and you "plan " on spending (win or lose) , it's a deal for gamblers.

I'm with you on this but I need a definite answer. Only real gamblers are going to purchase $2000 from the casino before they cruise. So I think rcl is looking at it as they are making you go to the casino since you already bought chips and will ultimately gamble. I think they are taking a chance. I believe only the $200 will have to be used and the rest will be regular chips for you to do whatever with. I'll be on a new years cruise comped by the casino so I'll report back if no one does before

It isn't free money. I think most gamblers will agree, that your initial purchase can be taken off the table at any time. Its how the bonus funds are handled that's unclear. You still need to win in order to cash it out. I don't see a problem with someone fronting $2000 to get $200 in gambling money. If you lose that $200 in bonus it isn't money out of your pocket so you might dip into the chips you already purchased. I'm waiting for a call back on Wednesday from the department responsible for this promotion.

And I can see that for land based casinos however land based casinos are not the same as cruise ships. Land based casinos are offering that offer to their customers who they know gamble.  The ships are offering this to everyone of which the vast majority are not gamblers or just token gamblers.

Two entirely different situations that cannot be compared.

As I said above. Two different business models. I can see your point with land based casinos who know their clientèle and are offering that promotion to people who have gambled in the past

Royal is offering this to all passengers, the majority who are not gamblers and would just spend the bonus money and not dip into the original amount.

The biggest question that is NOT in the fine print is how promo chips work.  If you win your wager and you still lose your promo chip, then this deal is NOT worth it because if you win you break even until you've 'played through' all your chips.  I would NEVER play a game where if you lose you lose, and you win you tie.  Also, that is how promo chips have worked in every casino I've been in, but I've never had the option of purchasing them.

As I said.  I have used the promo chips (albeit acquired as free play from points earned) in Royal's casinos in the last month.  They are wagered, and stay on the betting spot when you win just like cash chips do.  They work like regular cash chips in every other regard except that you cannot exchange them for cash.

Keep wagering them until you lose.

Look forward to having a good New Years cruise with you.

Stop by, and say Hi!

I got promo chips on my cruise last month from winning the hot seat and I can confirm this.

We cruise Sunday, so I will ask and post back.   I did not buy a package as there are too many unknowns at this point for me.   I will definitely let you all know 🙂
