I decided to walk across the street to the river walk mall to hit the Fat Tuesday for a daiquiri.

I got the biggest Pina Colada they had and I’m going to finish watching this game here.

Ended up grabbing some food from the Mike Anderson’s in the food court here.

Popcorn Shrimp, Red Beans And Rice, slaw, and hush puppy

I’ll tack this on since I’m staying in a popular New Orleans cruise hotel this weekend.

I rolled in about 11am on Sunday... an hour before the Saints game so interstate traffic was bad but the area around the hotel wasn’t bad at all. The valet parking dropoff is actually off of Fulton Street. I was happy about that because I could avoid the construction and potential embarkation day traffic on convention center blvd on the other side of the hotel.

There is actually a garage right across the street from the valet drop off. I believe you can park yourself there for $25-30/night. I went with the $39 valet because I was pressed for time to get to the game.

This is a busy day because not only are people here for the Saints game. The Dream and Breakway are in port. I’m sure people are in town for New Years. Georgia and Texas are in town for the Sugar Bowl.

I paid $150 for this hotel on Hotwire four months ago... which is a little high for a Sunday night. I attribute that to everything that’s going on in town right now.

I expected chaos, long lines, having to wait to check into a room until later. Those are all common things when I show up at a hotel at 11am on a Saints game day. Surprisingly there was only one person in line ahead of me and I was able to get a room immediately.

I don't think you ever identified which hotel this is?

I did this video for anyone wanting to know how to walk from a convention center hotel to the port.

This is coming out of the Marriott Convention Center.

Look right to Hyatt Place next door. On the other side is the popular cruise parking garage Fulton.

walk to the corner at Julia street. Show you the Cajun market for wine purchases...and embassy suites around the corner.

A look at Hilton riverside as we cross the street

walk to the Julia street NCL/RCCL terminal.

continue to the erato Street CCL terminal dodging cars like Frogger.

Then I take the steps to to the river walk mall like Rocky Balboa.

Thanks for posting this! This video was actually so helpful to me. We are staying just a little bit away from the Marriott at the Loews and I was trying to figure out whether we should walk or catch an Uber or a cab. Because we'll have a lot of luggage and I saw all kinds of hazards to moving a bunch of luggage, I now feel really good about taking a cab instead of walking. Thanks again!

You can also go in Hilton riverside and through the mall but you’d have to make it down those stairs at the end.

Yeah, that just ain't happening. I'm packing heavy for this trip because after the cruise we're staying on in NOLA for Mardi Gras week, so I have a costume and will have to pack all kinds of other clothes and paraphernalia in case the weather isn't warm, it rains, etc. It's going to be a cab for me! 🙂

I haven't subscribed to a thread since the forum update, so I hope this does it. Great review as always and I'm looking forward to your Vista trip. I'm going on my first cruise in October and Vista's my girl.

When I uploaded that video the other day I noticed I never uploaded my embarkation video. So here is my embarkation day crowd avoidance technique. I’m going to miss this on vista since they put the casino on deck 4...like having my own private hallway on the Dream.

TEST. Thanks for signing up! I’ll be on board in 50 days so bring your questions. I’ll post here so you should get a notification. You’ll probably hear from me a week before that.

They have luggage tags in a more visible area this time. I was able to secure the earliest possible tag number. Normally I’m not in a hurry to get off but the saints do play at noon tomorrow so I’ll have a little extra motivation.
