Oakman58 Posted August 25, 2019 #151 Share Posted August 25, 2019 I don't know how folks get such great pictures of flying birds. When I was in Alaska this year I did get a few decent shots but nothing like some of the photos posted in this thread. Not knowing where or when eagles would appear presented the greatest challenge. That and focusing.

Docker123 Posted August 27, 2019 #153 Share Posted August 27, 2019 (edited) A little flock of royal spoonbills on their way home late on Tuesday afternoon. Perhaps I should have lopped off the one on the right. Edited August 27, 2019 by Docker123

Docker123 Posted August 31, 2019 #156 Share Posted August 31, 2019 I was out on the wetlands yesterday, and saw this kestrel fly in, then hover. Unfortunately, tail towards me. A bit high, but pretty. Then it saw some prey and just plummeted. Better buy all those new cameras to find one that will re-focus quickly enough

Our son used to have a Nanday Conure that would laugh . Some of them must have gotten loose because we saw a flock of them that would fly together a few times . They can be noisy ! Docker123 Posted September 14, 2019 #169 Share Posted September 14, 2019 A couple of very different birds. Tiny little superb fairy wren (male). A quite a bit larger royal spoonbill having a grooming session and something really really little (without a macro lens). Probably not really a bird

Yes, spring officially starts here on 1 September. As with spring, yesterday was beautiful, warm, sunny, gentle breeze. Just woke up, rainy, windy, cooler. Spring is a lovely time of year, mostly. Docker123 Posted September 15, 2019 #172 Share Posted September 15, 2019 Here is another photo from yesterday. As far as i can work out, this creature has the very abstract name of a blue-billed duck. Who would have though up such a thing? Apparently endangered in my state of Victoria.
Docker123 Posted September 15, 2019 #173 Share Posted September 15, 2019 A couple of shots of long-billed corellas. About 6 of them were on the park by the beach, just chomping on whatever they could dig out of the dirt. I was about 1 metre from them and they did not seem to care. Wild birds.

Docker123 Posted September 16, 2019 #175 Share Posted September 16, 2019 Down for my morning walk. Sunny, but the wind is strong and cold. Lots of gannets around, but a bit far out for my lens. Anyway, here are 2, with a crested tern in the background.
