Shore Excursions in December

Is it normal for the cruise line to offer a limited number of excursions in December?  Going to the same Island in April and they offer 21 excursions.  Same Island in December and they're only offering 6 excursions.  Is this the norm?  Is that time of the year a time when a good number of excursion operators take off?

If the cruise is for Dec 2019 or 2020, then they may add more excursions as the cruise gets closer.

Are you sure that you are seeing all of them?  Look at the page and see if there is a button marked "view all".  If so, click on it.

Thank you both, yes, the December cruise is in 2019 and yes I've checked it twice, just like a Christmas list and there are only 6 offered, no view all, just a "back to the top".

Many of the cruise lines now contract out the shore excursions rather than run their own.  As such, the cruises with dates far into the future are simply not under contract as yet while the one in a few months have all the tours scheduled.

 

As the sailing date approach, the number of offerings will increase, but you can be certain that some offered in April will not be available in December.  They do change vendors regularly due to service performance or feedback from passengers as to activities they would prefer.
