Can I use gift cards to get money in the casino?

So I had a question about using gift cards to get money in the casino? Basically, I was wondering if I were to buy a $500 gift card and to put that balance on my sail and sign card, would I be able to use that money in the casino on blackjack, roulette, craps, etc? (i'm not a slots player). I called Carnival and asked, and they said yes, but i've been given misinformation before, so wanted to double check with the people on this forum

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks,

Matt

I know people are able to take money off of their accounts on slot machines. I don't play slot machines. OP specifically asked about table games and specified that he is not a slots player.  I want to make sure he isn't surprised if a fee is charged at a table.

I appreciate the input! I know they take charges off sail and sign if you buy chips when you have a credit/debit card attached to your sail and sign on the table games, but I wasn't sure if that was still the case if you had cruise cash/money already available on the card

Now I don't know about that. I had a credit card on my account at the time. I don't know if they can determine how your S&S account is funded from the casino.

It's exactly the same.  They don't have any idea how your S&S is funded, just that it is.  And, yes, there is a 3% or 3.5% fee if you get cash at the tables.  To work around that, load your players bank at the slot machine, spin once, and then cash it out at the teller.  Take the said cash to the table.

Sounds right. I want to say it was $7 on $200 the time I did it.

I didn't even spin once. I was new at this last cruise and loaded 400 dollars to clean out my gift card balance on my sail and sign. Didn't realize I had loaded the 400 and retried and loaded another 400. Never did spin, went to cashier and they gave me 800 in cash even though I only had 400 on my sail and sign. This left me a minus balance of 400 so I went to guest services and gave them back their 400 dollars. I didn't think they would let me go negative balance but they did.

The machines now lock up if you don't spin after loading in cash/credit card charge to S&S
