New to Oceania questions

We have only taken Cunard Queen Mary 2 transatlantic, but looking to do a Baltic cruise to St Petersburg . Considering Queen Victoria or Oceania marina . Like the fact that marina has 3 days in Russia.

DH and I will probably choose PH room for the extra space . my brother is likely to also come, in his own cabin, at a much cheaper grade.

questions:

1. What is dress code? Are there formal nights?

2. For GDR, do we make a reservation or just show up?

3. When making a reservation for dinner, can we make a reservation for 3 people and use the priority  that ph gives us to book?

4. Are there self serve laundry on board? Free?

On Oceania:

Country club casual. No prom nights (but no sloppy dress either)

GDR - just show up

Specialty restaurants- you can request lower cabin join you and he can accept when his booking window opens. (You can trade res. dates/times and get additional ones once onboard.)

Self serve laundries yes- $2 wash/$2 dry

If you want excellent food, skip Cunard and head for Oceania.

The PH  also receive 3 free bags of laundry  if you want to send things out

there are laundry rooms on each passenger deck except  12

No formal nights  no Jacket /tie required

some will wear them  but not required

for ladies  a nice skirt or dress slacks with a nice top or a dress is fine

some wear cocktail dresses

We’re Cunard diamond, many times on QM2 and Victoria, but feel Oceania is far better in almost all respects. Since discovering O we’ve only taken one Cunard cruise. When it comes to food there isn’t any comparison, O is far better.

We are plebs on Cunard but I couldn’t agree more - O is better in just about all respects.

We did the Baltic on the Marina in September of 2017. Having the 3 days in St. Petersburg was fabulous, I don’t know how you could see all there is to see in less time.  If you are looking for a tour guide, I highly recommend TJ Travel and Nadia. Great customer service & wonderful tour guide who brought the city to life for our group!
