ubarpants Posted February 4, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2019 I'm happy to see a 2019 thread! You've been so helpful in past years. I have a couple of questions about public transit: 1) If I buy the citypass via the website or app, would I just show the pass on my mobile phone to the bus driver? How does it work when taking the metro? 2) Is there anywhere near Oceankaj to purchase a paper citypass ticket? 3) One site I read presented the harbor busses as an alternative to the canal cruises. Would you agree? It seems the route is shorter and of course the narration would be missing. And one unrelated to transit--my ship is docking on a Friday and has an overnight in Copenhagen. Our flight leaves at 5pm on Saturday. I would love to see Tivoli Gardens lit up at night but I understand that there are concerts on Friday nights, so tickets are more expensive and there are more people. Would it be better to go during the day in this case for lower crowds? We aren't planning to ride many rides.
Danish viking Posted February 4, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) Its possible to buy it as a paper ticket at the ticket machines at the stations. But last time I was at Oceankaj no ticket machines was installed. You will just show the ticket to the bus driver or metro steward. I think the kiosk on Oceankaj only sell 2 or 3 zone paper tickets, but again if I find out anything more I will post it here. Tivoli hasn't updated their prices for the 2019 season but normally its cheaper to get in before 20:00. The good thing will be that the crowd will be gathered at one place so the rest of the parks should be less crowded. arsenalboy Posted February 4, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 4, 2019 Thank you Danish Viking for this very informative post. We are on the Silhouette which is in port for 2 days 21/22 May. I had already seen it was docking at Oceankaj 332 which is confirmed by your link. I was speaking to Celebrity about a few things and mentioned that it has previously docked at Langelinie which is obviously walkable to the centre. They told me that it could still dock at Langelinie if it was free and a decision would be made in the few days before. Was that just waffle from Celebrity or can berthings change from Oceankaj to Langelinie?
Danish viking Posted February 4, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) According to the cruise list both the Nordre Toldbod and Langelinie pier is fully booked so I don't think its likely unless one of the other ships cancels their call. Rare gnome12 Posted February 4, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 4, 2019 I arrive in Copenhagen on Friday July 12, and will be there for the last weekend of the Jazz Festival (July 5 - 14 2019). Does anyone know when the schedule comes out? Currently, www.jazz.dk is all about the winter jazz festival. I'm not interested in the big name acts, but maybe a small venue or outdoor concert. Also, I will be staying at Hotel Bethel. Is there likely to be additional noise because of the festival?

Thank you for confirming that. My hopes were raised by the link you gave for cruiseshuttle website. However, they only seem to service 5 vessels throughout the cruise year and none of them are Celebrity. Slightly confused by that?
Danish viking Posted February 4, 2019 Author #8 Share Posted February 4, 2019 Is the cruise ending in Copenhagen or are you just on a visit. Bus 25 and 27 is just as useable and most likely much cheaper. 25 will get you all the way to Nørreport and 27 only to Østerport. But cruisers arriving in July and later can use the new metro line M3 and M4 from Østerport that opens around that time.

We would only need transport to say Kongens Nytorv, from there we would walk to shops and sights. We have done this before but from ship berthed at Langelinie. We got taxi from Langelinie to Kongens and later walked back but cannot walk back this time!
Danish viking Posted February 4, 2019 Author #10 Share Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) Take bus 25 to Nørreport (not 27) to Nørreport and take the metro one stop to Kongens Nytorv. If you end up on the 27 bus you can then just take bus 26 from Østerport towards Ålholm Plads and get of at Kongens Nytorv. A ticket is 24 kroner each way. Is there likely to be additional noise because of the festival? 2 I don't know when they will release the programme this year, but the last two years they've released most of the festival information in April (or somewhere around that time, as far as I remember). Can't promise you anything about noise levels at that hotel as the plans haven't been released yet, but they won't be playing at full volume at 2 AM. People live in that area too (including our current PM), so they will be respectful to locals and visitors alike and let people get some sleep.

Because our time is limited every 30 mins is precious in Copenhagen and paying extra for taxis is a small price to pay. Apart from a previous cruise we have also visited Copenhagen for a week as a city break. We have found taxis elusive but when you are in a hotel they can get one for you. So we know we can get a taxi from Oceankaj as they will be waiting for business, but where would we find one for the return journey as we have not seen them waiting for business in the centre?

sdho Posted February 4, 2019 #14 Share Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) Thank you for a great thread Danish viKing. I'd like your suggestion for transportation during our 1 1/2 day stay in Copenhagen before our cruise. We are a party of 10 (including 2 eleven year-olds) and possibly with one suitcase per person. 10 pp + 10 suitcases. Transportation from Airport (CPH) to Crowne Plaza (https://goo.gl/maps/AJ2X7Lr2sp52) - Any recommendation? Airport shuttle, Taxi, Train or private shuttle? Transportation from Crowne Plaza to City Center - Most likely train - since we will be in town for 1 1/2, I'm not sure if it would make sense to purchase 24hr or 48hr city-pass but I'm leaning towards 24hr. Transportation from Crowne Plaza to Oceankaj - Most likely Taxi Transportation from Oceankaj to Airport (CPh) - Most likely Taxi (not sure if Taxi are available nearby or abundant) Thanks, sdho Edited February 4, 2019 by sdho

Copenhagen Airport -> Crowne Plaza Regular taxi (max. 4 passengers): approx. DKK 150 Large taxi ("Storvogn"): approx. DKK 200 Add about 30% for trips made on evenings and weekends. Drive time is about 10 minutes. Train: DKK 24 for adults, DKK 12 for children under 16. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by a paying passenger. This route is included in the City Pass. The train ride takes 5 minutes or so, and the hotel is about 5 minutes on foot from Ørestad Station.
Danish viking Posted February 4, 2019 Author #17 Share Posted February 4, 2019 But they are 10 so they need both a big and a small taxi, a minibus is most likely more expensive but more easy to figure out.

Large taxis will cost around 50% more.
Danish viking Posted February 4, 2019 Author #23 Share Posted February 4, 2019 A big one for up to 8 passengers costs 470 on a weekend and a small one for 4 passengers 370. So you looking at around 800 for a big and a small taxi or 1100 for 3 small ones. Then we are not far from the 1400 quoted for a minibus.
