Any advice for getting off the ship as soon as possible? Last year, we did self assist but somehow got to the area way too late and had to wait in line for 1.5-2 hours. The stairways were packed and they had closed some of them off as well. Normally we aren't in a hurry to get off but we will be driving 13 hours that day and want to get on the road asap. Thanks!

Did self assist from Liberty this morning.  They had Groups A, B, C, D scheduled between 8-8:30.   Alternating Platinum Theater deck 4, and MDR deck 4.   Group numbers and locations were on TV.   Disembarkation was much quicker than scheduled, with groups A&B called shortly after 7, and C&D called before 7:30.  Just headed straight to assigned area (MDR deck 4 for us), and straight outside from there.  Hope this works for you, too.

Get into the self-assist line about an hour before schedule arrival.

We travel regularly from Galveston and there are just no guarantees. We don’t do self-assist because we don’t have far to drive and as Clarea states you have to be in line early and we aren’t that interested. They allow far too many people to self-assist.

That said, it has been much better with the new terminal and disneyland type ramp through the terminal instead of the escalator/elevator that used to cause a hold up.

However we were on at the end of February and had one if the worst disembarkations ever. Unlike the above poster our scheduled departure was late from the ship. Once you got into the terminal after you collected luggage there was additional distance to walk compared to usual, more zig-zag lines and complete lack of co-ordination between the  staff guiding you into lines for US/non-US citizens.
