Traveling inn Allure n need advice

Recommended Posts

I’m not new to cruisin but 1st time on RCCL and looking for help n tips.  So TIA

1.  How is the food in the main dining room?  Do the menu change each nite?  Also, the hibachi is it truly worth it?

2.  The shows:  do they repeat them during the cruise in case we miss on showing?  Is it difficult to acquire tickets to them?

3. The Casino:  do they offer decent tables such as Let it Ride, 3 Card Parker?  Are they expensive for minimum bets?  Also, for such a massive ship and amount of passengers is it impossible to get a seat?

4.  Seems the ship nickel n dimes for everything.  How are daily specials for spa treatments?  Ship activities and such?

My mind is being overwhelmed with all it has to offer.  Any insight is helpful and appreciated.

Thank you

Menu in the MDR changes each night.

Every show has multiple performances.  You can usually get into the Aquatheater and Main Theater shows via the standby line, but you should make reservations for the comedy show.   If you use the standby line, your choice of seating can be limited.

Spa specials will be best on port days.

I have been on 4 Oasis class ships and can tell you they nickel and dime you for nothing.  Our last 14 night cruise on Symphony we had a refund to our cc from excess OBC that was never used.  It is easy to go a week and not spend a dime on the ship.  Pre pay tips , get a BOGO dining package and you will have a 0 balance due at the end.  happy cruising

I think the food in the dining room sounds far better than it tastes.  There are only a couple of items that I think are really good, so now we use a specialty dining plan.  Hibachi is fun and if you haven't gone before, it is worth a trip.  It is a bit more expensive than the ones near where we live, but keep in mind, you're on vacation and expect to spend more.

The shows do repeat, but if you are able to make reservations prior to boarding, you will be assured of a seat if you are there 15 or more minutes before showtime. There is a standby line, but many times that results in poor sight lines or seats not together.

They do have the tables you listed, but honestly, I only play slots, so I don't know if they are expensive for minimum bets.  I seem to think that poker was a $10 minimum and once during the day the minimum was lower.  As far as getting a seat, sorry;y I have no idea.

Nickel and dining is different for each person.  You don't have to spend money for a lot of things if you choose to not do them.  There are some spa specials, and some are  even listed as being on sale before boarding in the cruise planner.  Just look for the specials in the Cruise Planner or check with the spa.

Allure is a great ship with tons of things to do.  Keep in mind the first day onboard it seems overcrowded, but everyone is trying to board and find their way around.  Enjoy your cruise.

1.  The menu changes everynight, however there are a few items that carry over from night to night.  I have never tried the hibachi/tepanaki, but it generally gets great reviews.  The reason why I haven't tried it, is we have great ones locally, and I like to try different things that I can get at home

2.  They do repeat them serveral times.  It is recommended to pre-reserve esp the comedy show.  Also pre-reserver the aqua show early in-case there is inclement weather for that show.  They will reschedule the show and honor your reservations.  The ice show I have been successful if I enjoyed a show on my reservation day/time.  If they offer it later, I can go standby (usually my wife wants to do something else so I am just looking for a seat for me).

3.  Can't really comment exactly which table games are offered as I don't gamble much beyond video poker.

4.  I don't think RRC nickel n dimes any worse than other cruise lines.  They do offer some discounts on spa days esp on port days

Just got off Allure on Sunday.  My comments:

Food is subjective. We were in a suite so  we ate in Coastal Kitchen 5 times and the MDR twice.  The MDR  Food was good to better than good in each venue.  My only complaint was the Steak Diane was tough but tasted good.  But again, food is subjective.

Make reservations for the shows.  It's just easier and you can get in early enough to get good seats.  You don't have to go during your reservation time, you can always standby for a different show.   Each show was done 3 times through the week.  The cast of Mama Mia was also in Blue Planet, so they didn't run at the same time, same with the Aqua Show and Blue Planet.  Try to see the Aqua Show as soon as you can, it can get cancelled for weather.   If cancelled it will be re-scheduled, but easier just to see it early.

Comedy show basically requires a reservation.  We ended up not going as we were tired, but it's a very small venue.

Didn't do any Specialty Dining (other than Coastal Kitchen which is suites only).

I felt the service was wonderful at all venues.  The crew was very happy, fell all over themselves trying to please.  We had MTD and had some issues with tables, and everyone from the Maitre D' down to the Assistant Waiters were busting their tails to accommodate us and make sure we had everything we wanted or needed.  I found this everywhere on the ship.  I say this as we have sailed Royal Caribbean 27 times and this cruise the crew seemed exceptionally accommodating and motivated.
