How well does the Carnival HUB app work while on board?

Does this app work while on board?  Has anyone used its "chat" feature?  Can you use that to stay in touch with someone you are traveling with so you can let them know where you are on the ship etc?  Thanks for helping.

yes, only really works on board, need your folio to activate

Cruised in Feb. with 2 other couples on the dream .  Worked great keeping in touch with each other.

The only problem we had is if you closed the app your group would disappear and you'd have to make a new one so don't close the app while you are on ship.

Worked great for us on 2 cruises.  Other people report not so much.  I suspect user error!!!

We've used it before.  Sometimes messages were delayed, but I wonder if that was due to people in our group closing the app.  I like using it because I can always check our onboard account, check for times of various activities, etc.  I do know that some private events don't show up - for example the meet n greet for our roll call group.  Others reported it was in the printed fun times, just not on the app.  I also liked being able to preview photos.  We ordered our welcome aboard photo through the app & it downloaded directly to the phone.  I was then able to share the digital version with my friends.  It was pretty handy.

The Hub App works well, remember to you have to keep the app running to receive notifications.
