Holy cow Alaska excursions are expensive!

We had sticker shock too, initially, but there IS savings to be found for excursions if you book them yourself - not through the cruise line. It might not be a lot of money, but it all adds up. We booked every excursion on our own to save money and we had more flexibility and freedom.

I get inside rooms and then spend a lot of time on deck watching the water.  You have just as good a view from public spaces.  Plus you save a lot of money.

Last time we went to Alaska we had an inside cabin. We were younger, energetic and very pumped to be cruising Alaska. Running and forth to the decks, jostling for a good view and a comforable seat was doable. We had a blast and spent a pile on shore excursions.

This time we spending on a balcony and look forward to relaxing while watching the stunning scenery float past. The shore excursion budget is more conservative on this upcoming cruise.

Time will tell which was more enjoyable. I'm sure BOTH approaches are wonderful for different reasons 😆

Yes, but not to the extent I have seen it this year. I don’t recall seeing Inside Cabins for $ 399 and Balconies for $ 599 in years past.

I personally got a $299  inside rate last year,   single.

In  my opinion,   what is off the ship is the highlight,   so I never skimp on my tours.   I do on the cruise, and pick up the bottom bargains where I can.   They have been available in the past.      This season,  has another 14 passengers NCL has to sell  as example,   may cause an  oversupply and low prices.  :)  (I'm hoping)
