VPN & nonstandard ports

Some questions about RC's internet service (VOOM on Adventure of the Seas):

 

- Are there any VPNs that still work that I can sign up with?

 

- Do they block non-standard ports?  I am a sysadmin and use a number of apps that use such.

There is port blocking, though I don't know the details.  Both PPTP and IPSEC/L2TP VPNs are blocked.  SSL VPNs would probably get by.

I frequently use work related Cisco AnyConnect VN without issue.  My VPN provider offers SSL and IPSEC VPN gateways.  SSL often doesn't work while their IPSEC gateways do.  Sometimes I have to use Cisco AnyConnect to an office then I can use SSL VPN within that tunnel.
