We will be on the Breeze sailing May 25th.  Just a few questions:

1-  We always purchase the Cheers package early but failed to do it on this trip, when is the cut off date to purchase online?

2-  Back in February we had the Cheers package and we noticed the bar selection to be half the size, with exclusions of a lot of different brands and types of liquor...and a few times I was unable to get just lets say Absolute apple martini, they only would make it with Tito's which does not go well with me, or I like Kraken Rum Miami Vice but they would not serve me Kraken said it doesn't come with the package....does anybody have the current menu?  We cannot or did not look at the price of drinks....my father in law drinks Grey Goose and Tonic, I drink Grey Goose apple martini or lets say Patron and orange juice and my other half likes Makers Mark and soda water, realize they no longer have makers mark but buffalo trace, anybody know the prices to these drinks so we can decide whether the drink package is worth it this time?

3-  Does anybody know which pier the Breeze docks in Cozumel, is it the new one?

4-  I always purchased the premium internet package months in advance, when is the cut off date to purchase this and as Platinum member do I get any discount, if so, can I get it online or I need to purchase on the ship or call Carnival?

5-  This will be a premier cruise where both of us get the drinks on us card, are we allowed to get a drink at the casino bar or do we have to be served while playing?

Cheers can be purchased up until 10pm the night before your cruise I believe.

The only restrictions on bar brands is price. They have never refused our request for a particular brand of liquor unless it were to exceed $20. I am not aware of any that do so. I do not know the particular drink prices for the ones you mentioned. Most martinis and mixed drinks run the $8-$10 gamut with a few exceptions.

There is no discount on the purchase of Wifi for being platinum. You can purchase anytime online or on board.

Sorry I can't help with the rest.

No internet discount for Platinums. The only discount to be had is if you purchase it online prior to sailing.

As as far as the cutoff time to purchase both the Cheers and internet packages prior to your cruise, it states this information right in the descriptions online.

The Funshop purchase cut off is usually 10 Eastern time the day before the cruise departs. To be safe and not have confusion once on board I would do so at least 1 day in advance of that and check the box on the purchase page stating it's OK to list on the details page of you eDocs then reprint the cruise documents to reflect the purchase.

With CHEERS! you can order any drink, menu or off menu, that the bar or lounge has the makings of and the alcohol prices out to $20 or under per glass, excluding doubles. As for figuring out what liquors should be on your sailing you can try to email Carnival about 2 weeks prior to sailing to see if they can confirm if specific labels will be available.

Our experience is that Carnival tends to dock at the westernmost pier, not sure of the name or if that is the newest pier.

NO discount for loyalty level, the only discount is for purchasing it pre-cruise from the FunShops in your Cruise Manager.

OK, here's the rub with CHEERS! and getting the DOU cards from the casino on any cruise. The big misconception is that you can get 30 alcoholic drinks for the perk plus package as many think, it's NOT the combined amount of drinks per 24 hour period is still set at 15 drinks per passenger. WIth the DOU cards technically you should be at least seated at a game or slot to get the perk, but a dollar extra tip per drink goes a long way to have the wandering servers "forget" to check if you are actually playing or not. If you go to the bar the bartender might allow you once to order, but tell you in the future you need to be at a table or machine for future orders. The bad part of the DOU card is they now try to limit the alcoholic drinks to what is on the casino menu, but each manager and host(ess) has discretion to override this. SO this is something you may want to discuss with them at the premier reception on embarkation day.

The additional money spent on CHEERS!, while not allowing for more alcoholic drinks to be ordered, will give you the option of sitting at any pool, bar, lounge, or restaurant to order any alcohol beverage that is included either direct from the bartender or from wandering servers. So in essence you will be paying the package price of CHEERS! to "upgrade" your DOU card to have the convenience of ordering throughout the entire ship and all of the various bar menus. Especially helpful when the casino is closed, but for many the drinks had outside of the casino environment many not add up to the cost of the package.

It may seem like an inconvenience to others but I have done pretty well stopping at the casino prior to heading to another venue to get a drink before dining or a show to maximize the DOU card usage. I do tend to put a few dollars in the machine when I stop, but not always, and never spend more than I had already planned to gamble on that cruise. It does take a little planning to do this and still get good seats a show, but like I said $1 extra cash tip goes along way to having the servers remember you an make themselves rush the order a bit too.

Thank you everybody for helping us.

Maryred, yes, even with the Cheers package we always give an. extra dollar tip per drink.  I think your right, its best for us to have the Cheers as we always do and be able to sit outside or get a drink someplace else.  We also be drinking water, coffees etc so it be worth getting.   Thanks a bunch.

Regarding the Kraken rum, I can't believe that it's more than 20 per, which is what they charge for a drink at the Alchemy made with Grey Goose VX.  If you get it neat or in the rocks, it's 17.00. (Aug 18 trip on Horizon)

But the OP was trying to substitute the Kraken rum in a Miami Vice which from my experience too they won’t let you do. I don’t know what their criteria is for this but any signature type drink like Pina Colada, Funship, Miami Vice....they won’t let you specify the brand of alcohol.

That's why I primarily drink at the Alchemy or Pig n Anchor.  No problem getting what I want there.  And nothing is premade from a pitcher unlike the poolside bars.

I understand calling for a brand name of liquor when you are drinking it neat or with ice or soda or some other light mixture. I don't understand ordering a name when it is mixed in a cocktail with a lot of ingredients that take away the taste of the name brand.

Can you really taste the difference?  I tend to drink straight alcohol to minimize calories but just wonder about this taste difference??

Exactly, certain drinks like the apple martini and a Miami vice they have a set brand of liquor, in February I asked for a substitute of liquor brand and was denied each time, I even was denied Absolute for Titos!

On Pride last year I wanted a margarita from Blue Iguana.  I asked for Patron instead of whatever (Cuervo?) tequila the drink was made with.  Bartender initally said no, to which I replied nevermind then because that particular tequila gives me an almost instant headache.  At that time the bartender then said since it was a reaction to the normal tequila she could now replace with Patron. YMMV

I also have a bad reaction to Tito's, I can drink and mix anything but give me Tito's for some reason I can either be very nasty or super silly and its not nice, I also have some type of allergic reaction because only Tito's and grand mariner do it, even if I just had a single shot and I don't care for clear tequila I love the gold tequila taste.

So, still deciding cheers or no cheers, but then I am thinking, four ports casino closed and I have herniated discs with tears plus because of this I have a double torn meniscus so I need to wear a leg brace, as a result, won't be getting off the ship.  Even though I can't get certain liquors I want, at least I can get something else but I will save $$ getting the Cheers so leaning on that. Still deciding lol.

Go to the Alchemy Bar, Red Frog Pub and enjoy Patron Anejo at the tequila bar.  Utilize Cheers to the best of your ability.

I've never had an issue substituting Patron when ordering any Margarita from any bar.  However, other "recipe" drinks - The Cruiser, Sex on the Beach, etc. - are made with the brand of liquor listed on the menu & I haven't ever had any luck with substituting.  If you order Grapefruit juice and vodka (Salty Dog) or orange juice and vodka (Screwdriver), etc they will make it with Grey Goose with no problem - it's just those pesky "recipe" drinks that cause a problem.

The reason is that the bartenders need to follow the recipes for the Carnival drinks so that they are universal across the fleet.  That is why the Alchemy bar is the best.  The mixologists there have the authority to go off menu and concoct anything they have ingredients for.  They use fresh fruit or fresh squeezed juice instead of sugary mixes and premade junk.
