Because the ships will be elsewhere.

Some are in Miami. (Navigator and Symphony)

Some are in Port Canaveral. (Mariner and Harmony)

Some are in the Mediterranean.  (Allure)

Some are in Cape Liberty.  (Oasis)

(these are just the ships that I assume you are thinking about)  (a lot more of them are overseas for the summer season)

When we sailed on May 5th. this year, we asked why there were no sailings out of Fll during the summer months next year.

It seems that the waterway where the ships come into and leave port will be undergoing a massive expansion, from dredging the bottom, to widening parts of the water way.

There would be no way to accommodate the cruise ships with this planned upgrade.

The influx and export of some shipping containers will still occur from the area.

I guess it is Fll. way of modernizing for the future.

Can you just imagine the impact for the locals taking with the loss of the cruise industry during this time.

Safe travels.

Cruise ships are a drop in the bucket for the traffic handled regularly by Port Everglades and the impact on the local economy.

PE is the 10th leading container port in the US.

In addition, more than 12.5 million gallons of petroleum products PER DAY are delivered on tank ships and barges to Port Everglades which provides petroleum, including jet fuel, to 12 counties in Florida.

There are several ships sailing out of FLL next summer like Celebrity Equinox, Princess and Carnival and Majesty of the Seas. Independence will be there as well as just announced.

Well I guess I should not believe everything I am told by the locals.

Thank you for the information.

Safe travels.
