Food on Golden, Island, and Royal

No Charge Restaurants:

The Royal has the largest and best buffet of all of them. The Royal also has Alfredo's open for lunch and dinner as well as the International Cafe open 24/7.

The Golden has a buffet, but it's not as extensive as the Royal. There is also the International Cafe open 24/7 and selections at the I.C. will be very much the same as on the Royal.

The Island's buffet is also smaller than the Royal's. The Island does not have an International Cafe.

All these ships will have pizza by the slice and a grill by the main pool.

MDR menu selections on all these ships will be similar.

Thanks guys. This is helpful.

This is hard to explain, but do any of them have next to the buffet a smaller restaurant or bar where people from the buffet can take their food there? Basically it's sort of a "secret" smaller spot for seating.

The Royal has outdoor seating forward of the buffet by the Lido Pool and aft of the buffet on the Horizon Terrace.

The Golden has outdoor seating aft on the Horizon Terrace, seating in the Cafe Caribe section of the buffet which is just forward of the Horizon Terrace, and also seating forward of the buffet around the indoor Calypso Reef Pool.

The Island's buffet is forward on the Lido deck. You can carry your food to a table around the Lido Pool or back even further to the indoor Lotus Pool area.

There are no secret areas.

On the Golden there is a bar (Outrigger Bar) and seating area just aft of the buffet from the Horizon Court.  It affords great views looking aft and was never that busy although we were on an Alaska trip. It was covered and outside.  Another area we went if one of us wanted the buffet and one wanted a burger or pizza was the seating around Neptune’s pool where we would meet. There were always tables available.  The seating around the buffet was always busy and finding a window seat almost impossible.

Thank you. That's what I was wanting for an Alaskan cruise! I went on the NCL Sun 2 years ago and there was a sports bar with a little buffet at breakfast which was practically adjacent to the larger buffet. It was a quieter area and easy to get a table.
