summercruisin' Posted June 25, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2019 Hi all! I am in Rome, departing on a cruise tomorrow from Civitavecchia. I am trying to figure out my best way to get to the port, and a search provides a ton of info that seems so complicated, I get overwhelmed and can't understand it. Can someone please suggest a simple/easy to follow way for me and my kids to get to the port without overpaying? I usually feel like a fairly intelligent traveler, but trying to figure this out is really getting to me, for some reason! TIA.
CruiserBruce Posted June 25, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2019 You are less than 24 hours from heading out, and you don't have transport arranged? That probably eliminates the least expensive options. I would see if your hotel has a concierge and if they have someone they can arrange on short notice. Next choice would be train, if dragging bags is not a problem. I have heard there is bus service, but I don't have personal knowledge or experience. Otherwise you are probably left with taxi, which will be one of the most expensive options.
euro cruiser Posted June 25, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2019 There are shared shuttles, I know that Cruisemom has posted about them and hopefully she'll see this. You can take the train, it's relatively easy but does require moving your luggage on and off the train and up and down stairs at the station in Civitavecchia. Where in Rome are you staying and what time do you want to be at the port? With that information we can back into very specific options using public transit. MNcruisingcouple Posted June 25, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 25, 2019 I don't know if you've already tried these options, but they are some that have been recommended. RomeCabs.com Romeinlimo.com airporttaxitransfers.com
euro cruiser Posted June 25, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2019 I found one of Cruisemom's posts on the subject. The service she has used is romashuttle.com, mentioned in this thread
Daisyloo Posted June 25, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 25, 2019 We used a company called NCC Airport to take us from Rome to the port. We chose their shared shuttle option. They were great - on time, courteous and a comfortable ride.
