Underwatr Posted July 7, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2019 We've stayed at the Hampton Inn in Manhattan across from Macy's to be a little closer to the action (nice in the runup to Christmas). A little more by taxi; i think we paid $50-60 for a Dial 7 black SUV.
MJSailors Posted July 8, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2019 We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Brooklyn a few years ago. It is not far from theRed Hook terminal, but certainly not walking distance. We inquired at the front desk about the availability of a taxi to the pier the following morning. We were informed that taxis could not be hailed in front of the hotel, but a car could be arranged through the front desk. Of course we made this arrangement. The next morning, we were driven to the pier in a town car. I do not recall the fare. As another poster has indicated the ride was 15-20 minutes. Another note about the hotel, the rooms were small, especially considering we had a good amount of luggage. Since we were unfamiliar with the neighborhood, we had dinner at the hotel bar/restaurant. There were not a lot of items on the menu as I recall. A Hilton hotel opened shortly after our stay at the Hampton Inn. if I were to stay in the area again,I would consider the Hilton as the rooms may be larger and the restaurant more accommodating.
