Vision OTS - Tendering in Villefranche

I have been reading on social media pages about some tendering nightmares on Vision OTS - especially if you aren’t on a RC excursion.

Villefranche is our first port and we are luckily the only ship in port that day. We have a private excursion planned and are a little concerned after reading that some haven’t been able to make it off the ship for 2 hours.

The other tendering issue I have been reading about was in Kotor. Again, we are the first ship in port that day. We get in at 9 and the other ships arrive at 2pm.

With Vision being a smaller ship and us being the only ship in port that day, assuming we are diligent in trying to get an early tender number, do you foresee it taking 2 hours to get off the ship?

We were on Liberty OTS a couple of years ago and do not remember any problem.  However, we did not have an excursion until the afternoon so being off the ship early was not a priority.  We spent the morning in Villefrance, tendered back to the ship for lunch and then back to Villefrance to catch up with our afternoon excursion.

We were just on Vision and tendered in Cannes and Santorini...no problems at all and we weren't the only ship in these ports. It was very organized and actually easy....much more than I had anticipated. We had early private tours booked and easily were off the ship right behind the ship excursions booked. You'll have all the info you need once onboard as to time and place to get your tender tickets.

We were on Vision a few years ago and tendered in Villefranche, we were not the only ship there that day.

From what I remember, the ship used local tenders that were able to hold more people. We had a private excursion and did not experience any delays or problems.

Same with Kotor

I do not recall a 2 hour wait at either port of call...

  • 2 weeks later...

Was on VOS earlier in the month.  We docked in Marseille so i can't say anything about Ville Franche tendering.  Kotor we had our one RC shore excursion so we got on one of the first tenders.  I did hear it took about 2 hours for everyone to get off and getting back to the ship there was a half hour delay when they moved the ship closer.  There were three boats in port that day.
