katz Posted July 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2019 Is it ok to drop off our luggage a few hours before our check-in time? We need to take our rental car back to the airport, and were thinking it would be easier to drop the luggage instead of reloading it into a taxi. Rare ORV Posted July 16, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2019 I don't see any problem with this. As long as you can get your rental into the port area where the luggage drop off is. What port city is this?
Rare pinotlover Posted July 16, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2019 On most cruises Oceania allows you to drop of baggage starting at 9:00 - 9:30 after they have finished off loading all departing baggage. However, as ORV commented it depends upon the port itself. Some ports won’t allow one to enter in a POV at all, while others won’t allow you to enter until their assigned boarding time. Location matters.

katz Posted July 16, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted July 16, 2019 The port is Miami. The port is in between our hotel and the airport.

FWIW - is there a closer rental car location than airport or does it involve extra charges? I know that Hertz has a downtown location near the port and they have a shuttle to the port. Never has been any problem driving into the port area in Miami. No security checks at all which seems strange but so. Drive right up to the terminal.
