DRS/NC Posted July 27, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2019 I'll be using a rented scooter on a cruise next month for the first time. I know I can't take it on the tenders (3 stops), but what's the process for getting off/on in docked ports? I'll be on the Caribbean Princess in Nova Scotia & Newfoundland (dock ports). I'll also post this on the Princess board. Thanks!
mets123 Posted July 28, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2019 Piece of cake. The Canadian ports are very very very handicapped friendly. In Halifax and St John, the ramps seem to self adjust according to the tides.
TheDMan62 Posted July 28, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2019 Its very easy to get on/off. Sometimes the gangway may be a little steep, but there is always a crew member escorting you on the gangway just in case you need a little push or to make sure you don't tip over. mexico8 Posted July 29, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2019 When you dock in Halifax, Nova Scotia there is a huge market area (covered) that is so easy with a scooter. You can also go outside and to the downtown area right beside the ocean. Very easy to do.

Also, on our last August cruise in Halifax, Paxs were using the same ramps for getting on/off the ship.
mets123 Posted August 18, 2019 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2019 Princess must be different than RCL then. Halifax has always been the smoothest process of any port we've been to. You said passengers were using the same ramp. Does Princess have separate accessible ramps?

I think they mean the ramps serve as both an exit and entrance, and crew will have to hold up oncoming traffic so the scooter rider may proceed.
