What is a voucher discount?

I called Viking because I was on a waitlist for an excursion and it opened up today.  If they added capacity or someone dropped off I don't know.  I called Viking twice, both times being told that I need to pay for the waitlisted excursion in MVJ.  The first rep said I had an outstanding balance.  The second rep said no.  But the second rep sent me a list of my shore excursions.  

 

1) Some excursions show a Voucher discount.  Is that another name for credit card payment?

2) The waitlisted excursion shows as paid, from what I can see.  But I never paid for it.

 

EDIT:  To answer my own question... I think the voucher discount is my OBC.  Is this correct?

I thought Viking paid for an excursion but maybe I had more OBC than I thought I did.

You can easily check that - your OBC is on page 2 of the guest statement.

My statement does not show OBC.  Maybe because I'm using a TA?

We are also using a TA and our Viking invoice lists all OBC, except what we are receiving from the TA. The TA OBC is included on the TA's invoice.

TA's do not purchase the OBC they are giving you until approx. 2 weeks before the cruise departs - that is why it doesn't show up until you get on board ~ and obviously you can't spend it until you get on board .LOL It's smart to not pay your gratuities or spa treatments pre-cruise for that reason . They will be deducted from any OBC you have been given - unless your TA specified a particular purchase for yiur OBC.
