Zuiderdam Cabin Question - Upgrade or Not?

We have an inside cabin on deck 7 aft booked for an upcoming Zuiderdam cruise.  Due to price changes, it may be possible to "upgrade" to an obstructed OV on deck 4 at no additional fare.

 

Outside of the obvious lifeboat view and some daylight, are there any advantages or disadvantages to the OV?  Some questions that I am pondering.

1.  Obstructed OVs are mid ship.  Inside is toward the aft.  We don't usually feel movement in aft cabins, but we do avoid forward cabins for movement and noise.

2.  Cabin layout.  It looks like the cabins are the same square footage, but the layouts may be different.  The IS looks like a more "square" layout while the OV has the longer hallway entry.  We have never sailed with the "square" layout.  Opinions on the layout difference are much appreciated.

3.  The OV is above a public deck.  Has anyone had noise issues?

If OV is above a public deck, I'd say skip it.  If you have a shower w/ the inside, it may be best to keep it.  I think the OV has a tub.  Being mobility challenged, we  prefer a shower.

 

We prefer the square format.  Less traffic jam in the middle of the room.

We've had a couple of deck 4 G or H cabins.  The only time we had a noise problem was when we were above the Ocean Bar and could hear music coming up the stairs, not through the floor, until 11:00 PM or so.

 

The G/H/HH are laid out just like standard veranda cabins with a tub, except for 4089 and 4090.

That's kind of what we are thinking but we will change, it it appears to be worth it.

Thanks.  It is probably a GTY, so the exact location is unknown.  We could get "lucky" and get upgrade to an unobstructed fore OV, which we would not like.

We were in one of the obstructed OV cabins on Zuiderdam last year and DH and I decided we wouldn't do it again.  The problem isn't the view or the layout, its the noise.  When you have tender ports they use these lifeboats and if you are one of the unlucky one (like we were) to have the lifeboat just outside your window used for every single tender port (and there were many) it gets a bit tiresome.

I'm on Zuiderdam at this instant in stateroom 4061 (category HH, "fully obstructed"). We do have a lifeboat out the window, but the glass is appx 6x8 feet, much larger than OVs on deck 1.

Save for the bed being in the direction of travel (rather than at right angles, as in deck 1 OVs), the cabin is the same as other OVs. It has a tub/shower combo, and (save for the nightstands) no drawers (the former drawer space now has a cooler installed).

We've hard no noise at all from tenders or anything else outside. IIRC, deck 4 category G cabins were about $700 more for our 12-day trip,, and category C OVs on deck 1 were about $1300 more. However, this voyage was sold out, so you may get a better deal odds one that still has vacancies.
