Tipping and Cruise Ship Sponsored Excursions

I have in those countries (except Cyprus, where I have not been), and my gratuity was readily accepted. Frequently I have seen a sign on the bus that tips were gratefully accepted (or words to that effect). I felt tips were expected.

We most always tip tour guides regardless of the location if they provide good service EXCEPT those that specifically ask or beg for a tip.  I am a firm believer that anyone who asks or begs for a tip is disrespectful of his/her clients and simply does not deserve a tip.

I have only been on one Shore excursion where tips were not accepted and expected. That was in Skagen, Denmark ten years ago. We did a bike ride and when we all tried to tip our excellent guide, he was actually horrified. Even in the UK, tips were expected. That said, I can't speak to the countries you will be visiting.
